It's not down to genetics. Why would a white person try and be a sprinter when everybody in the world is telling them that "only" black people can sprint? They then internalise this and never push themselves in the discipline.

The same can be said for swimming. Who was the last black swimming role model? There hasn't ever been one, so why would a black kid at home think he could ever be grow up to be the next Phelps?

I don't know much about swimming clubs, but I am involved in our local athletics club & there are loads of white kids in the teenagers sprint training group - all "white people trying to be sprinters" - and they all push themselves hard & take it seriously to be the best they can be

Brilliant from Jade Jones. A local lass to me and we stopped the pub quiz halfway through and all sat glued to the screen cheering her on.

Dont wish to belittle her achievements however but you could pretty much put any girl from Flint into a conflict sport and they'd return with a medal.
