What's freestyle swimming? Is it jump in and get to the other end and back as quick as you can doing whatever the fuck you like?
Isn't it what we called front crawl when we did swimming lessons at Hathersage Road baths back in the day?

Thats what I thought. Why don't they just call it that?
I think it may be because you are actually allowed to do any stroke you like in a freestyle race - but the front crawl is the fastest stroke so any swimmer using e.g. the breaststroke, would never get anywhere near winning it.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

Re: The 2012 Olympics Thread (3rd August, Page 74)

Great track and field starting now, another week of sport then the Community Shield, then Premiership what a great year for sport.
On another note did anyone see the interview with Pendelton after she and her partner had been disqualified, she came across as a bit of a selfish woman, she fucked up the cross over but all she could say was oh well at least I've still got the other events, whereas her partner was devastated as it was her only event and was out of the Olympics.

Thanks to MCFC 1993 for the schedules each day, first thing I look for, much appreciated.

I have never liked her and that interview reinforced that. I'm no cycling expert but the pundits in the studio seemed to think it was her fault............why not just put your hands up and admit it? Would have had a lot more respect for her if she'd done that

Agree, during the interview in reference to the point about it being Jess Varnish's only event Pendletons response was very flippant. Can't recall her exact words but it was basically...well she's got the next Olympics games. Very shitty attitude.

Unfortunatly she cant think about what she has got wrong as she needs to concentrate on other things. Its sport and things go wrong. Is she supposed to hold a candle light vigil for the other girl to show she cares

-- Fri Aug 03, 2012 7:26 am --
