The Alan Ball era

Had a disastrous start to the season before somehow winning MOTM IIRC. Walsh even though he was getting on a bit wouldve been better than Creaney. Signed Immel close to season starting as Coton injured and he didnt fancy Dibble or Margetson....then kept Immel in when Coton was fit leading to him joining the rags. Will always be remembered for holding the ball in the corner when we needed a goal to stay up.

Because he was seen as Swales man? We played nice stuff under Brian, proto Pep.
We did, the likes of Quinn, Rosler, Walsh, Beagrie played some great stuff. A standout memory was the 3 2 win at champions Blackburn, we played extremely well and the players seemed to me they were really playing for BH

Am I making this up but doesn't Franz Beckenbauer fit into the story somewhere, didn't Lee fire Horton believing that he had tied down Beckenbauer to mange the club and we ended up with Ball instead?

It wasn't Alan Ball who caused the real mess.

It was the useless fucking clown Frank Clark.

The worst manager in our entire history.

A shit stain of a man, contempt for our club, played politics with everyone and left us an impossible shit sandwich.

A **** of the highest order, along with his odious assistant Alan Hill.

At least Ball cared, as did Phil Neal.

Clark and Hill had contempt for City.

I made sure Joe Royle got the job.
Never managed again did he? Had a nice time picking up easy money at the LMA instead

Jobs for your mates never felt more appropriate than this. Ball as a player by all accounts was very very good but his managerial experience and results before he rocked up at city were nothing short of diabolical. How did he ever get the job.

Time may be playing a part but was this around the time we thought we were getting George Graham or Dave Bassett and they both fucked it off.

Such a shit show back then. But at least we had some nice kits in those days.
And we had the genius of Gio

Can't disagree with you there but would say that by getting time Clark came, off the top of my head Curle, Quincy, Flitcroft, Walsh, Beagrie(?), Lomas etc were all gone.
