I kind of liked this, even though it suffers some from the "submerge the music in atmosphere" disease that Pink Floyd invented, U2 screwed around with and Radiohead ultimately succumbed to. I'm sure there are other artists who have used it effectively, but the only one I can think of is Washed Out. Anyhow, you can hear an energetic drummer underneath many of the tunes here desperately trying to get out from under the murk, and there's enough variety in tempo and tasty chord changes to that I enjoyed tunes like "Child", "Feel to Follow" and "Heave" and "epic scope" songs like "Go." I read that they released "Pelican" as a single which tells me they weren't really sure of their own strengths. I'm not really sure what the singer is on about most of the time. But that's okay. Fine driving-down-the-highway music and enough ear candy that I wouldn't mind hearing more, even though I tend to prefer more up-tempo and less studio echo. It's a solid 6.
