Ha he’s a fully paid up member of the vocal police ( as i am) ,so I’m expecting a low score if he doesn’t like Gavin’s vocals.

The vocals should get a pass from me.
Think this might be one of those needing more than 3 listens. 10 or so years ago, I'd probably have loved it. Now I kind of need to get myself in the mood. A bit Colin Hay meets Justin Currie (their solo stuff) in tone and style. The lyrics sound like they may need some attention paid to. Bold choice.

I liked it on first listen. There are some parts of it I liked a lot, others I may need to warm to, but it's definitely getting more listens.

I get that, when I first bought the album I probably liked half the tracks and it’s grown on me over the years to one I absolutely love in total and one of the few I keep going back to.

Timing can be everything. A couple of listens in this has been a good match for the mood I’m in, having Covid the week I start a new job (from home) and seeing multiple social events disappear in front of my eye.

I wonder if his voice might lose it’s appeal? The Stephen Fretwell comparison is a good one, also hints of the vulnerability of Bill Fay
