The Album Review Club - Week #141 - (page 1860) - JPEG Raw - Gary Clark Jr.

Maybe 7 or 8 of us could volunteer to do 100 pages each and that way we’d be able to get the information pretty fast. I’d be happy to add the page numbers in (but not to trawl 700+ pages on my own!)

I'll help. Why don't we split up the list at the front say 10 albums each to start with. I'll post the 10 i find, and u update the list. Someone else can take another 10

It should be simple if a search is run on this thread of each album title with the proposers name. Ok that’s 60 odd searches but easier than trawling every page.
I’ll commit to doing some of this Thursday night, assuming my shift is quiet enough to allow it.

Could do, thought it might be easier to keep track off all working off the same list/order. Happy with whatever is helpful.
Well as an example. Viva Dead Ponies is page 629, but only Rob can edit the first post.
It took me two minutes to find that under search.
If we all do our own it would take no time at all but Rob would have to add the page numbers to the original post, unless he has some way of making it public for editing.

Happy to go with that. Relies on everyone doing it though (a few have left as well). I find it easier doing things in order. But ultimately the list will get filled eventually.

Another music voting thread!

Several people have commented that the randomizer in @BlueHammer85 's Top 1100 album review thread isn't doing a great job of selecting albums.
Some people have suggested that we'd be better selecting the albums ourselves.
I would argue that the randomizer is doing a perfect job - it's completely random after all - but I understand the sentiment.

However, it got me thinking: given that some of us spend a lot of time on the thread, wouldn't it be nice if we were reviewing and commenting on albums that meant something to us? Even better, we could get an insight into why an album means so much to the person who selected it.

Ground rules

1. Let me know if you want to nominate an album. Don't say what the album is yet as we want a bit of mystery and anticipation.
2. A schedule of nominators will be maintained in this post so people know when their nomination is due to appear.
3. Each Tuesday, a nominator will give a review of their album and tell us why it means so much to them. You do not get to score on your own album
4. All other members score the album 1-10 (0 or less will be rounded up to 1) and comment/discuss at will.
5. Voting will continue until the following Monday when votes will be counted and scoreboard on page 1 updated.
6. Once all regular and new contributors have nominated, everybody can have a 2nd choice and we'll carry on until every album ever made has been reviewed. Or until people get bored.

Obviously I can't enforce this, but it would be nice if everybody who wants to nominate joins in reviewing and scoring other nominations.

Simple way we can all edit.
Mine are filled in.
Rob if you want to nominate for any posters who are no longer contributing feel free.

They might but to your point which stage do you pick? I'd probably go with something obvious like Dirty despite it not being my favourite. Could pick Ciccone Youth instead and try and convince Rob that Into the Groovey and Addicted To Love are evidence that covers are a legitimate art form :-)

Re Bull in the Heather, a bit too often I like to pull apart stuff and analyse why I like it, but Bull in The Heather is just one of those songs that sounds cool and that's the end of it. Even the video, in most videos if you had someone prancing about like the lass from Bikini Kill does in that one it would really wind me up, but I just think its cool and that's it.
When it is the ultra-adorable Kathleen Hanna, it is more than cool. OMG what a crush I had on her.

My choices.
Drive By Truckers....Southern Rock Opera.page177.
James King and the Lonewolves..Last Songs of the Confederacy.page 444.
Lucinnda Williams..Car Wheelson a Gravel Road.page 541

Probably easier if we get a few people doing it.
OK, let’s commit to doing this over the next week.

I’ll do 1-15, 61+
Coatigan 16-30
Journolud 31-45
Eamo 46-60

Just PM me the results and I’ll update the table.

How does that sound?

That’s week numbers by the way, NOT position in the table.

Or would it be easier via table position?
