The are we allowed the "it's quiet" thread yet? thread.

We will see! Great atmosphere there to be fair. One of the last old great grounds. Enjoy it while you can.

I certainly intend to. It'll be sad to leave and many fans don't want to go, but we need to leave to progress and the stadium won't last too much longer anyway.

This transfer window is looking insane. Just seen Man United offered €40M ( around £32M ) for Manolas and Stoke bidding for Axel Witsel! Anyone else heard of anything?

I get the impression reading these threads that we are not fucking about. Sounds like we want business done early. Hope we get 6 or 7 genuine first teamers in. Also everyone going on about deneyer. Is he actually any good? Looked too small to me pre season and not skilful enough to be a right back.

You're missing the bigger picture. It's not a flat value. It's influenced by dozens of other factors, like own revenue.
You have fuck all commercial revenue to speak of though and that'll only really start to increase if you have success. Look at the increase in City's finances (after the Etihad deal before you bring that up) from 2012 to now. I've taken a look at the changes and it seems you'll be able to increase your wage bill to £67m if it's not already there. Time for the bigger picture though, that TV deal is going to have every PL player demanding a minimum of £50/60k a week to sign, even the squad players. You won't be able to increase your wage bill to the level where you can compete with Spurs (£110.5m) Liverpool (£150m) and Arsenal/City (£190m+), so how do you hope to compete for the top players when you're offering next to no chance of competing with these clubs on a sporting basis in the immediate future (1-2 seasons) and you can't beat the wages they're offering? We had the advantage of (using Arry's favourite phrase) blowing competing clubs out of the water when it came to salaries. That allowed us to get the players like Tevez, Robinho, Toure etc to start the ball rolling. Being able to pay one top players wages before you increase your wage bill by £7m every season won't get you far.

Edit: Don't get me wrong here either, I'm not a naysayer, don't particularly like Everton tbh but I wouldn't mind seeing your lot putting Spurs, Liverpool, un*ted's noses etc out of joint. But those rules were designed specifically to stop you competing on the wage front (you're not even allowed to use the increase in TV money to fund wage increases) and that's exactly what they'll do.

I wouldn't sell Joe for 50m, let alone 40. Why on earth do we need to sell him for any amount? Not like we are desperate for cash. Keep him, and like a lot of players who will be staying, let him develop under Pep. Imagine him with the distribution skills of Neuer. Fuck the Save our Louis campaign, start a Keep our Keeper campaign!
Pep had nothing to do with Neuer's distribution skills. Joe will never have the footballing skills of Neuer much less ter Stegen.

Serious question how come after the Bradford fire Everton didn't have to do something about the wooden main stand ? ( not having a go )

Who would be an improvement? How much would they cost? Also, it would mean one less homegrown player.
For a Pep team, Ter Stegen is a clear improvement. Anyone who says otherwise is letting sentiment get in the way of clear thinking. Stones takes Joe's homegrown spot.

I posted this a while back:

If anything, my opinion has only strengthened, having seen the improvement he made in one game without Martinez. There were whispers that we worked on set pieces for the first time in months and obviously Stones was told "play your way, but if you're in trouble, row Z please."

You could also see it when he played for England. Despite what the media hate brigade made note of, Stones had a great game. He was composed, keeping the ball when he could, but made no mistake of getting rid when needed. He also made some important tackles. But the media would rather focus on a single backpass which appeared risky (which Hart had no trouble getting to) than all the positive points of his game, or Cahill's lack of doing anything, or Hart's inability to catch, or Kane being unable to kick a dead ball.

If I had a choice between keeping Lukaku or Stones, I'd keep Stones without a second thought. The club has to do everything they can to hold on to him.
Thank you, sounds very positive if we can poach him;-)

Don't worry about having a go mate, most of you are very welcoming and up for chat!

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure. Most of Goodison is concrete etc. There was actually a fire in the Park End once, decades ago. I think the fact that there's a fair bit of fireproofing, coupled with most of the wood on the stadium not contributing to the structural integrity, means it's safe enough to leave.

Exactly.

So if we're running off that now, just imagine when it increases.

Put it into perspective: We get £3m a year from kit merchandise sales. That's it. A flat £3,000,000. No more, no less. We sell through Kitbag and kits can only be purchased in one of two official Everton stores OR on the internet.

Awful, right? The genius CEO who signed this deal is being phased out as we speak.

Hope not! Like I said, I want us to keep Stones above all else. Obviously he's Guardiola's ideal centre-half, but he only signed a new contract last season so hopefully the new manager and owner(s) can show him reasons to stay.

Gotta be off now lads, have a good evening. I'd like us to sign Hart, but on the off-chance that it happens, forty million is a stretch!

Mate, if you increase it by £80m in the next 3 years you still won't be able to match the wages Liverpool pay, even though you'll have more commercial revenue than pretty much anyone apart from the rags. That's the point I'm making. Those rules are there to prevent you competing on wages with any of the current top teams, they only favour the clubs that already had large wage bills.

Just posted this in the Sane thread mate......rumours are we had a 50mil euro offer rejected in Jan and now we going back in for him!

'Bayern vs Pep' for Leroy Sané. City offered €50m in Jan, Schalke said no. 'Now it may be different'. [SPORT BILD]
Cheers mate id be chuffed with a summer of

Stones
Laporte
Gundogan
Kroos
Thiago
Sane

Your comments give the impression you are arrogant, deluded and not the most diplomatic. Please play nicely or you will receive short shrift from other posters and possibly the mods. You should take note of how your fellow Evertonian, @shackattack engages with us City fans.

Harsh.

I think he's giving a fair opinion and although I disagree with his view of Hart, I think his insight on Stones is valuable. I don't rate Stones myself but I rate Martinez even less.

Maybe a Coach that understands the game could find a player in there somewhere...

I'd like a goalscorer in there somewhere. That lot are hardly prolific and we're over reliant on Aguero and KDB as it is. Remember the days we could win 5-0 with 5 different scorers? Now the scorers are called Sergio, Kun, KDB, Aguero and De Bruyne.

That would mean Bony is staying then.

Also what about full backs? Zaba is off and hopefully Kolarov going we are going to be relying on Angelino and Maffeo? I think the full back positions are vital to the way Pep sets his teams up, cant believe we will go in so light Clichy missed large parts of the season and Sagna is no spring chicken either.
