It's not an outlier, it simply reflected his personality. He hasn't got a winner mentality and a desire to be the best; that was a prime example of that. It's also the reason why, when the going gets tough, you often don't see him. He has all the talent in the world but his signing has been a disappointment because of that.

No reason why not. You don't literally only have 14 or 15, you just have 14 or 15 star players who start games when fit and then fill out the squad with youth and the like. I'm pretty sure most teams who win the Premier League only use 15 or so players regularly, the whole 2 top players for each position thing is completely unnecessary.
