The Arsenal fans were right about Adebayor

So far, I have been impressed by the level of committment exhibited by players on the pitch.
Hugues's strength despite the lack of results is that he did not lose the players (yet) and they are ready to give efforts to support the manager's plans.

The Arsenal fans you met should be asked about the loss in tactical variations they endured since Adebayor left them. Arsenal is now highly vulnerable to certain play sequences which they were not with Adebayor (By the way, Hugues perfectly exploited that)

I have been impressed because a lot of players in City squad have to endure being shown on their weaknesses.

Adebayor can win aerial challenges but while Touré displays accuracy in his long ball passing, Lescott long ball passing game is appalling (one of the issue in City at the moment) and his deliveries are always 3 or four meters off Adebayor. This is of course bread and butter for central defenders who dont have to focus on the ball and get also hit Adebayor in the back to diminish him.
A classical action and a reason why Adebayor when the Arsenal wanted to use long ball play, Adebayor moved to side to face less brutal challenges.

When Adebayor manages to claim a ball and put down on ground, he has to contain defenders until the support gets to him. Usually, as City midfield has to regroup deep to protect their defenders, the support is long to come and with players like Tevez (slow), it does not help.
The lack of support also insulates Adebayor who has to show another of his weaknesses: he is poor at dribbling past his man.

Eventually, when Adebayor loses the ball, he sometimes chases it but less than more times. Of course, this point is not enough for Manchester City fans and he is labelled a lazy ....

I also noticed that players like Ireland lack decision quality in terms of chosing their pass.
Ireland alerted several times Adebayor with through in passes, often when Adebayor was marked by smaller, faster on the start players, uselessly tiring out Adebayor with chasing balls he has no chances at all at capturing.

So far, in spite of all this misuse of his qualities, Adebayor is still committed.
If some fans are unhappy with Adebayor (or any other player) committment, they should wait for the time when these players grow discontent and lose hope to come.
At that moment, you will see.

Play the ball to his fucking feet and he will be able to hold the ball up. I can't remember the Arsenal defence constantly bypassing their midfield by leathering the ball 40-50 bastard yards to Ade, can you?

It has to be said. Coincidentally, he'll probably now go and have a stormer against his old club again, which would raise many questions for me. Now that his honeymoon period is well and truely over, unless he's playing his former employers, there's simply no motivation from him at all. He's shocking. The problem we have though is what do we do? If we drop him, we have Santa Cruz as the most likely replacement and that's equivalent to playing with 10 men. Could we perhaps get away with playing Bellamy and Tevez upfront with Robinho on the left? At least it would encourage the back 4 to stop hoofing it. But that would leave us woefully exposed through midfield. Do we go back to what we did when Bellamy first signed and play Bellers up top on his own in a 4-5-1/4-3-3? What do we do? Is it possible to recover the real Adebayor? Or is THIS the real Adebayor? Yet again, i feel we'll be after another striker in the transfer window.

If you knew anything about football you wouldnt be writing that. End of.

Every time (well.. most:-) he got the ball to his feet he created something last night.
He is not Carew, Santa Cruz or Crouch so when he stops being played like he is he'll be fine:-)

he was poor yesterday. Very poor. Robinho and Tevez created a lot more, and had a goal threat.

I assumed Adebayor was injured in the 1st half.

We do not play route 1 football......Did you not see us in the first half?!? Some of the link up play between Robinho, Tevez and Ade was sublime.
And we certainly play the long ball less than teams like villa, who rely on this almost solely in the hope that Young or Abgonlahor (Or however it is spelt!?) will run onto it.

Adebayor (before he got injured?!) he didn't have his best game, but his passing was good and he took the ball past people.

We are a team that is a little bit low on confidence, and a set of fans that are expecting alot but giving next to nothing to the team to drive them on.

Apart from the sound of people leaving there seats when we were on the attack there was no energy from the majority of the crowd for the players to pick on.....this coupled with low confidence only helped to result in a flat performance particular in the second half when the players would have understandably been NERVOUS!

Sure, we should have won more games....but the Liverpool equalizer was a fluke goal and Hulls was a slightly dodgy penalty decision, how about we don't pick on players who are actually giving it ago?

You know why adebayor wasn't good yesterday?

He's a victim of hughes' wank tactics, he got fed up and didn't look bothered because the lad had helpless balls lumped at him all day long, adebayor into feet is class and thats where he wants it, at arsenal they always played him into feet and the defender can't handle him, just another case of hughes being the disease, he can't get the best out of our players and that means he isn't doing his job, get rid!

HUGHES OUT.
