As we saw today with Mahrez it is easy to balloon one over when going for the roof. Gotta keep that head/shoulders down or at least neutral. My go-to when I played was low to the GK’s left, as close to the post as possible. As an alternative to keep the GK honest, occasionally go low and to the GK’s right. Hard, low shots are easier to drill under pressure—less can go wrong—and very hard to stop. Laces for extra power, but side-footed can work for the one to the GK’s left.

I’m right-footed of course. Lefties shouldn’t go anywhere near penalties; they fill me with dread just looking at them putting the ball down and backing up.

What say you?

This bit. All day long.

Most of the sweetest ball hitters ever have been lefties. Can't take a penalty for shit though.

Make up your mind before you put the ball down.
Not too long of a run up.
Shoot.

Keeper is at most 8 by 2, so 16 sq ft. Goal is 192 sq ft. Even if he gets touch on it, it is usually not enough to stop a well hit shot.

Anyone who can’t confidently approach a 95% in their favor penalty kick shouldn’t ever take one.
