The Art of Taking Penalties

ah haaaa right ok. assuming he stands completely still then.
No I don’t think so. Even with the goalkeeper leaping through the air like a salmon, his square footage remains the same. Ye canny mess with the laws of physics man.

Alison had that fucker covered all day, even if it had been on target

Eddie would surely have had the lowdown on Alice's pen efforts. And incidentally, penalty taking isn't an art, 'tis a science. The following formula shows where Mahrez went wrong:

G=Fs multiplied by seven eighths time Hs divided by M.

G = goal
F is the force of the shot (which is why David S shouldn't take one!)
s is the nasty stare yer give the goalie
7/8 is the point left or right of either goal post in feet
H is the height in feet ( this can vary between 4 and 8)
M is the mass of the goalie

Riyad buggered up big time on everything bar F. No nasty stare at Alice, not on target which covers s, 7/8, and H. He can't do anything about M. The result was a complete and utter bollockation of a simple formula!

We'll be ok once Kev and Sergio are back.

Would be nice if we also had a defender who could smash them just as a back up though.

It's all just confidence though isn't it. Every pro smashes in every pen in training, you can never recreate the pressure of a game though. Technique is all well and good but if they bottle it, get nervous or psyched out by the keeper then it's worthless.

Train like you fight, fight like you train. Only way to create some semblance of similar pressure in training would be something like having to donate a huge sum from their month's salary (75%?) to a charity if they miss one in the penalty training session, or they're dropped to the bench for the next game if they miss. But that could obviously hurt the team and be counterproductive. It's just not really viable in this scenario though is it. Open the penalty session to supporters and encourage them to heckle and goad from behind the goal?

Harry Kane always takes a great penalty. Very hard and low in the corner he gives most goalies no chance. The only one I remember him missing was at Anfield but made up for it a few minutes later
