The Art Thread

Well I did say I liked the first painting ;)

I don't like this from a local artist but it sold for millions

Tracy Emin now admits that this sort of stuff she did was a waste of her talent.
She is an amazing person: given a few months to live after surgery removed half her organs, she is still active about two (?) years later.

I see that the Turner prize has been won by what appears to be a Ford Orion Ghia Mk1 draped in a giant doily.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I like a lot of stuff, especially Francis Bacon, but when I first went to MoMA in NYC this just floored me. You can’t really miss it, as it’s about 12 foot high. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be on display at the moment.

Compare it to ‘Le reve’ by Picasso.

It’s a collection of work about what it means to be British Asian, but I sort of agree, I found it quite weak. It felt like a work from the 1980s conceptual art scene.

I also rolled my eyes at Palestine being shoved down my throat yet again a far left activist in the art world.

I assume this is Kandinsky. He suffered from synesthesia, where the senses ‘mix up’ how you perceive things. These paintings represent how he heard music as lines colours and shapes. Fascinating.

Kandinsky is one of my favourite artists, since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated by the industrial vibe to his work, they’re like blueprint drawings to impossible objects.

The Bauhaus archive have some Kandinskys in their collection, well worth a visit if you’re ever in Berlin.
