The Ashes 2010/2011 thread

They are easily capable of batting for 2 days. Ponting is still one of the best batsmen in the game despite his poor form. Hussey has shown once he gets in hes difficult to get out. We have been lucky so far that only 2 of their batters are in some kind of form. For the 1st time all the pressure is on the Aussies so we have to take advantage and get a big lead and then hope our bowlers bowl as well as they did today.

I agree that they are capable of batting for 2 full days but there's no way you can say that England have been lucky because only a couple of their batsmen have been in form. England, Anderson in particular, have bowled beautifully for long spells. The fielding has been excellent and they're bowling well, to plans for each batsman. The luck so far has been very much with Hussey. Had England really had any luck he'd have been out twice in single figures, he'd be out of their team and England would probably have won the first test.

This wicket is a 500 pitch, anything less than 450 gives the Aussies a chance to get back in it like we did in the first test. It's time for the top order to get hundreds again, it's been a while since they all scored runs at once but they should be confident on this pitch in these conditions against this attack. Harris bowled a pretty good over and I don't think these Aussie bowlers will concede as many runs as quickly as they did in Brisbane so it's going to take some patience and intelligent batting. It's ours to lose now though.

Who is staying up to night then?
