The Ashes 2010/2011 thread

I was adamant that we bring Bopara, Morgan and Hildreth with us and play Hildreth at 5 because I honestly believe Colly has had it.

KP got out again but at least he posted 40 odd and I think will go on and get a big ton along with Bell at some point, Cook did well but Strauss fucked up. If he'd have not got out 3rd ball we'd be 300/4 today I'm sure of it.

It's bloody annoying that we've been bowled out for 260, it's the worst Aussie bowling attack I've ever seen. There is nothing to fear from them at all and like people have said it was a once in a lifetime performance from one player who also bowled pretty poorly for most of the day. There are positives for England with Cook and Pietersen getting runs and Ian Bell is just dreamy. I hope all his knockers over the years are watching how batsman mature as players and learn from experience. Cook will come out of the other side like Bell has. Colly looks all over the place but then he's one of those players that never actually looks in form. Get Bell at 5 and Colly at 6 as Bell was totally wasted today. I reckon had someone stayed with him he'd have easily gotten a hundred.

I wouldn't be surprised if 260 isn't that bad a score but we need to get quick wickets tomorrow to get the pressure back on them. Their crowd was very quiet until Siddle' hat-trick, they are down on their team and are expecting them to get beat. If England can somehow avoid defeat in this test they will win the series imo.

well well well

It's at around this time every four years, late November, the Gabba the venue. You poms fly down here, full of talk and hype "the best England team in 20 years".

You win the toss and bat, but your heartless South African captain does a harmy on ya and 3 balls in the ashes are lost.

Then this...

And 0/25 at stumps

So, just a few thinks to note:
  • - What's the excuse THIS time?
    - Swann is rubbish, why the hype? (Av of 40+ with the ball against us)
    - How long until Mark Butcher gets flown over?

Gunna be a LONG LONG summer for you lot!

After the way your bowlers bowled for most of the day I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

Perhaps you'll spend another half hour bowling wides?

Speaking of wides, hows Harmy these days? Still charging in?

At least it wasn't as tactics from a captain who knows just how shit his bowling attack is. 8 men on the boundary when Bell was batting whilst Siddle had taken 6 wickets? I'm being genuine here, if I was an Aussie I would keep my trap shut. Yesterday was a good day but I reckon it's about as good as it's going to get.
