Everything goes in cycles. Even in the best managed companies, executives can get lazy and complacent when they have been successful.

I am sure Khaldoon and Mansour can see this, but they are honourable men who will respect the work done so far by the "Barca boys".

As I said before, Begiristain has retired, Soriano is 60 in a couple of years and we all know when Guardiola's contract is up.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a new team in place in a couple of years with a new vision. We just need to buckle up until then :)

It has begun, and with it there will be a cultural shift - it is inevitable when you recruit highly successful people.
I commented in another thread that only three seasons ago, Liverpool finished in fifth position. We believed that they were done. They had aging players who needed to be replaced, and we had pipped them repeatedly. It looked like we had beaten them mentally. They did what needed to be done.
We are rebuilding, as they did, and we have replaced coaches and the DOF, as they have done.
Time and support are crucial.

Maybe Viana is the first piece of the next generation.

Job 1 - get this window done and dusted, remove the dying wood and bring in some fresh.
Job 2 - identify and court the next coach, maybe already identified and the groundwork put in place.
Job 3 - transition Pep out end of 25-26 season and bring in the new coach.

Don't underestimate Khaldoon.

The top dogs at City are busy schmoozing to bother about the shambles of a rebuild and piss poor tactics under Guardiola. They're like many City fans... Heads in the sand.

Pep was great but he's very quickly becoming 'just another PL coach', too often now being outsmarted by fresh faces, not least among them, Ten Hag and Ruben Interim.

For what's it worth Im over the opinion that his time is up and we should be working on getting Andoni Iraola lined up so impressed with him I fear the rags will go for him next or one of the big clubs in Spain

"Honourable men"....

What a gullible fanbase we have. No-one becomes a billionaire by being 'honourable'. CFG is the smiling face of multi billion investment / development projects around the world. They're ruthless businessmen who are more interested in horse racing and bloodstock than football, and they don't give a shit about the fans. It's purely about image and money.

Guardiola was appointed because of his fantastic record and worldwide image. He achieved his targets in 2023 and should have gone after winning the CL... Job done.

Our complacent (non-football) owners clearly had (and probably still have) no idea how to replace him at that point, and simply threw another £20m+ a year at him to stay on. It's been drifting downhill ever since, despite winning the PL in 23/24... the weakest PL in 20 years. Now we've got the weakest squad we've had since Mark Hughes walked into the club.

The owners are complacent when it comes to football. Khaldoon is little more than a happy handshaker, whose annual report is just 'rinse and repeat' every year. Soriano is the secretive 'no' man, overturning anything he doesn't like being agreed at lower levels

It's two different businesses at City, and football is currently the lesser of the two as far as the owners interests are concerned. They've literally taken their eyes off the ball.

The 'inner workings' of the club are virtually an open book. Money men making money. If you weren't concerned when the owners dropped the words 'Football Club' from our name, then you were probably too busy falling for their charm offensive.

They've been polishing the Abu Dhabi turd since they arrived in the UK. It's not about football, it's about international investment and development. The football is secondary, just like the traditional fans are. It's all about image and maximising profits. Just business.

It isn't your own club. It's not our club any more. When long term local / traditional fans are alienated by way of cost or petty ticketing restrictions, the club may as well be called 'Profit FC'.

The only things that make it anything like 'our' club are the sky blue shirts and having a ground in Manchester. Everything else is CFG... a worldwide organisation.

You sound like one of them " I'm important at work" conformists. You can agree that we have become a business without hating your own club. That includes sounding off about local/loyal fans being treated as consumers. Did you actually think that this was going to happen 17 years ago today. And dont reply with " did you actually think we would have won all that we have since then", because we were all going every week regardless of that.
