The battle for 3rd place

I'm sure the nearer we get to the end of the more players will realise either their contracts arent being renewed or they are surplus. I would still expect to be able to get performances from some like Navas or Zaba though not so sure about Toure though.
Everyone will know the score already, they'll be sorting the futures out behind the scenes.Like i say, professionalism and personal pride are the order of the day, hopefully.

Except that would make Arsenal 2 points behind us and the rags level.

Hence 'no fuck ups' as our run in is pretty straight forward. In fact, I couldn't have picked 6 better games myself

It's been a fun season, with several ups and downs. The next 8 games aren't going to be any different and I'm certainly on the side of enjoying the ride rather than worrying about finishing between 2nd-6th

Football is fun, or at least it is supposed to be

I think that's half the problem.
A lot of them aren't going to be there and let's be honest how many players give a fuck these days anyway.
That's one of the very few times this season though when we have coasted

It will be very disappointing if the league season tails off like that but now I've seen it once, half expecting it again

I'd like to see Kompany get some games now. If he's fit enough for the subs bench, put him on

Said it before, our record against teams in top 4-6 just not good enough. Big game mentality missing, leadership missing. Must be addressed next season as much as finding defenders.

Touching cloth time. Rags win their game in hand they will be 2 points behind us and then we have to play Chelsea and they have an easy game at Sunderland. We could be sitting in 5th next week.

A whisker away from beating Chelsea, Spurs at home and Arsenal (today), mainly due to officials (spit) bottling it. Give us those extra points and we would be well in the race.

I'm not sure half the players are even arsed where we end up,given they will be elsewhere next season.Hopefully there is enough professionalism to see us remain in the top 4.

Pep is simply counting down the weeks until he can get the broom out.

He needs to for sure. There's a spinelessness about some of our players, most noticeably De Bruyne, that's holding us back, particularly in midfield where Fernandinho is still the only one prepared to go where angels fear to tread, and it manifests itself in a repeated failure to win games against our nearest rivals. We should have beaten Chelsea, but didn't. We should have beaten Spurs, but didn't. We should have beaten the dippers, but didn't. We should have beaten Arsenal today, but didn't. The goals we conceded again today were fucking pitiful. Come the summer a significant upgrade on Fernando is needed (maybe Fabinho?) and I'd take Sanchez off Arsenal in a heartbeat, whether he's 28 or not. Quick, strong, skilful and works like a navvy.

On an entirely seperate note, Leroy Sane should be a shoe-in for the PFA Young Player of the Year (he won't get it of course - it'll go to some cockney lightweight like Harry fucking Winks), because in that young man we have availed ourselves of a genuine superstar in the making

I agree with every word.

Midfield is as much a problem as full back,it has been for a couple of seasons. We need fighters all over the pitch, every dept is lacking in that characteristic.

I also agree, but this is the test of Pep's management skills now as well,a season doesn't finish in April,(well it does for some I suppose),but he needs to get into each and every fucking one of them in the morning, and remind them that they are representing Manchester City, until 21 May hopefully a week longer.

Does it say anything in the book to suggest this is how he will approach the latter end of a season........oh no it won't because he has never had to deal with this kind of situation I suppose, but as much as the players,Pep got to earn his corn now as well,it's ok saying half of the players are looking to sort their futures out,but seriously ????

not sure why sunderland away is an easy game for the Rags , 2 teams who couldnt score in a brothel its got 0-0 written all over it. The last few seasons we have finished very strong with six wins on the bounce , and looking at the remaining fixtures we have i expect more of the same and a minimum 3rd place , there again my (FA) Cup is always half full

Hopefully we won't celebrate like Arsenal do if we finish 4th, finishing 4th is no achievement.
It is no achievement to finish 4th but we need to be In champions league next season

Agreed. Plus a proper captain needed like Vinny. We have too many lightweights looking around for inspiration when there isn't any. As good as Silva is, he's never been a captain.

Players who are out of contract will not put as much effort in just because they need to find a new club, an injured player teams will think again.

Worst Arsenal team I have seen this decade and we still didn't beat them.

We don't deserve doodly from this season. What is worrying is our inability to beat top opposition and in order to win the FA cup we have to beat two of them.

Chelsea and Tottenham we are not going to catch. Luckily Arsenal are far worse. The question is whether we can rouse ourselves enough to keep ahead of United and Liverpool. We probably will just. But Guardiola will have Leroy to thank if we do make top four.

But considering the summer outlay it has been a piss poor season results wise. Style wise maybe not. The question for fans is whether we value style over substance, Guardiola obviously does.

I think Pep is adopting a similar attitude to Mourinho in his first season back. i.e. It is not his team and therefore doesn't really want to win it. That's the only reason I can see for him being so relaxed about the team being far worse than the sum of its parts.

Totally agree on the first bit. Should have, could have....didn't! Story of our season and it happens too often to be coincidence.

Sane has been great but only from Dec onwards. He won't win it on that basis. Would have thought Englands new glory boy Deli Ali will win it.

Dissapointing that were in this position after
the start we had and yet again our record at beating the sides around us is terrible.
We can't seem to win a big league game anymore
