The battle for 4th place

What's the point of beating yourself up with shit pessimism and feeling bad about everything, yes we have been average against top sides but its not like our players are not capable of beating arsenal, we are playing at home to, so we do have a good chance of beating them and hopefully we will, hold on to your tits till tomorrow if you may, not asking for alot

Arsenal took us to the cleaners with a clear plan to nullify us last season. They're no better and we're much worse, and haven't done anything to fix the flaws that allowed Arsenal's plan to work.

Arsenal will just turn up and do the same again and take us to the cleaners.

Hard to disagree. A sad reflection of the state we're in, but I don't expect us to pick up more than 1 point from our last 2 games

Some spin that. We've been fucking terrible

No coincidence.
The week of Pep anoucement we were still ONE fooking point from being top of the table ( on GD ).

Three months later, we are in position to loose on top 4.
No matter the angle you look at the situation, that is sabotage of the highest order from Pellegrini.
He gives Pep the middle finger and jeopardize our signing campaign comes summer.
Which high-profile player would choose to sit on CL for one season instead of signing to one of the elite clubs ?

Leicester got some decent players as did West Ham and Spurs and they didn't play Chumps League.

I am not really concerned about that aspect of it , its more our scouts and recruitment policy and our ability to bring in real quality.

if anything we will get a better squad together for the future if we don't play Chumps League and are eliminated for Europa early next season ala West Ham and Spurs.

Not trying to give spin to anything mate, it already feels bad enough to be in a situation we find ourselves in, a team capable of winning title will be fighting it out for cl spot, having said that with an important game tomorrow, all this pessimism makes everything feels more worse, may be its just me.

Yep if this happens we will be looking at the sub standard player list once again. That's why I never bought the charming man rubbish, always had his own agenda and never tried to build a relationship with the fans. His one title winning season was with Mancini's side. With the side we have today we were never going to win the Champs League this season, and we may have gone and sacrificed top four for it. The board have been incompetent in the way in which they have dealt with transfers and the prioritisation of competitions. This is coming back big time to bite them and they will get what they deserve. The fans saw the writing on the wall after the rags defeat last season but the board did not apparently. What was it it Franny said about cups and cockups.

These last few games feel like the end of a disaster movie. How much worse can it get? I suspect we will beat Arsenal then lose with some half arsed performance at Swansea and come 6th. Cannot wait for the pellegrini era to end.

Im still sticking with my 4 pts gets us into 4th. Draw Gunners; Beat Swans.
Utd wont win at the hammers and thats that.

It is that - don't need to bother about winning the next game as there will be another chance attitude - prevalent on here and I suspect within the club - that has killed us.

We could and should have prioritised this NOT going to the final day. Not hoping for other sides to mess up.

It must be a win tomorrow or United will take 4th. 100% sure of that. Especially given West Ham v Swansea today.

You might say that result is going FOR us, but it is going FOR United and against us for several reasons - like West Ham could be out of the race by Tuesday so United get a big boost - and Swansea are clearly playing well without pressure - just what we need next Sunday!

Chumps league??? What's that is it a tournament for under 5,s thought up by Primary school children!

Now you've said that Aguero will probably pull a hamstring tomorrow.

West Ham losing 2-0 at the mo.

If they lose they'll hopefully be all out to do the rags midweek.

Last thing we needed is Swansea gathering some form and in two fixtures Pool home, WHU away we lost both.

I think its gonna be 3rd or 5th for us.

We go and win both which is hard to imagine given our form vs top8 and our mentality this season not mentioning the tactical shortcomings.

Or we draw/lose tomorrow and might do the same vs Swansea.

3rd or 5th.

Why? They could be out of top 4 by tomorrow (point for us and they are)and will play the occasion v United not a top 4 fight.

United are the threat because of the extra point they have on West Ham (the difference between us being able to afford a draw tomorrow instead of a win if we had got a point anywhere else - like at Southampton).

Last thing we need is anything making it more likely they will win at the last ever match at Upton Park.

Had United drew 0-0 today this West Ham score would be great for us. As it is I am not sure it does us any real favours.

Swansea really getting into form just in time for us playing them. Could be taking 0 points from the last 2 games at this rate.

I have been saying that on here for the past week or two.

If we win tomorrow we will likely win at Swansea. If we do not win tomorrow then we will be done.

At least 5th will mean no qualifier in the Europa.

Small mercy over 4th getting a qualifier weeks into Pep's reign with players going in and out still like a yo yo.
