The battle for 4th place

You can always judge the insight and knowledge of the game of people on here when they cannot even spell the name of a player who has been with us for six years !
He may have spelt Kolarov wrong, he's right though IMO. Don't want any of those three near the starting line up on Sunday.

Pepito is in town today with Arteta.

That's right

Pepito is in town today with Arteta.

Has he changed his name?

Cheers for the info, will be interesting to see if we have briefed the media and allow them to film/take pics of him here.

It isnt blind faith mate, its the reality of the situation and football, anything can happen.

Too many think we will lose, (fair enough given our form of late) but sit there thinking the rags will never lose and that's frankly laughable given their record this season as well.
I fully understand why there was disappointment after the Arsenal game. For us to be in a situation where we were relying on others for a top 4 place was painful - even more so when the team who could capitalise was those cunts.

If the team want fourth then it's there for the taking. If we let it slip then it's unforgivable, especially after hearing that the squad isn't getting the major overhaul many of us expect, and what's needed.

Didn't know the score at Upton Park until I woke up this morning. One of the most pleasant surprises of this season, to be honest. You beautiful Irons!
Right, we've been given a get-out-of-jail card. All we need, in fact, is a draw. Some seem to be missing this. I don't say we should play for a draw — I think we should go haring at them and wallop them, to make up for the Arsenal game (where we were not that bad, actually, it was the defence that let us down badly on both goals) — but it's all we need, regardless of what United do against Bournemouth. We have a vastly superior goal difference, one point will see us in CL. We do deserve it, because those below us have been even worse. It's as simple as that.

Is there any real story behind this or are you sat in Cheetham Hill in a flat on the 10th Storey?

I'm intrigued, if it's made up its pretty left field.

Straight up. Live in the north of Thailand and doing my bit for the team. To be honest, I am not doing the chanting myself. I don't know how ...

This all day long. The whole point of watching football is the spectacle and that lives on because, contrary to some views, it isn't preordained who'll win and who'll lose. Also, against received wisdom, there are very few 'shit' teams in the PL. If you're slightly off it, or if they're right on it, you'll often lose. For those saying we're lucky to be in the top 4, look at the goal difference. Best 4 are usually top 4, worst 3 are usually relegated.

We should never have been in this situation and I blame Pellers for sending a B team to Southampton and assuming we didn't need result. But this is not time for complacency we can't just expect to turn up on Sunday for a day out. We need to make sure settle the game early doors as we did against the hammers on our last title.

wouldnt surprise me if Pellers is told who the team is to start this weekend.

As someone said earlier, we've been given a get out of jail card here and this is too important to fuck up.

Arsenal will have a shock home loss to Villa (well, they have to win at some point don't they?), WHU will beat or draw at Stoke (therefore pipping United on goal difference), United lose at home to Bournemouth as they go all out for the win and The Cherries pick them off on the break and we'll wallop Swansea with a clean sheet for Joe and a hat-trick for Sergio. It's written in the stars I tell you.

That's exactly how I see it. Villa winning at Arsenal, so unlikely it probably will happen. Bournemouth will be looking forward to a party at the swamp to celebrate staying up and they'll go there wanting to win, and they probably will - the Rags are still dross, if teams actually take their chances and defend the three shots that the rags have on target a game they'll be alright. As for us at Swansea, the passion we showed v Arsenal gives me faith we'll win - we just need to add concentration and decent defending to that passion.

If he goes 442 in this game I think my head will explode.

Considering the circumstances in which we won our two titles, fans should be having more belief, firstly some of them were sure of arsenal winning against us, then united beating west ham and now Swansea beating us. Team hasn't performed to the expectations but still have some faith in them. We just like to do things on final day of the season and Bournemouth wont be a walkover either

Here's a way to relieve the pressure (a bit). Open an account with any of the online bookmakers offering a bonus for first time account holders. Then place a bet on Swansea and the red shite both to win on Sunday. Swansea are around 9/2 and Salford are about 4/11. For £100 you get £750 back, if you lose it means we are in the Champions League but pick the right bookmaker (Bet365) and you get a free £100 bet anyway. If the worst happens and we fail you have a wedge for your season ticket, a weekend away with your other half or enough dosh to pay for a couple of Europa Cup trips.
Good idea, did that in yesterday's game as well, bet on a manure win.
Best £50 I have ever lost.

Please turn up for this one & if we do get 4th or the slightest chance off 3rd,i wont be cheering like a madman as that means we,ve become fking arsenal..

I think you missed my point. I'm not saying it's good for the money we spent. I'm saying for all that's gone wrong this season (a lot of it of our own making; some of it bad luck or made by others), it's incredible we've gotten as much as we did out of it.

If I'd told you at the beginning of the season that one Prem team wouldn't beat any of the Prem top 6 once but would finish 4th, be in the semis of CL and win a cup, what would you have said? "Bollocks" probably.
Good point -and the reason why they should probably change the title of this thread.

It's no battle - three incompetent, semi drunk idiots ambling around, f-ing up repeatedly and failing to take chances presented to them on a platter by their opponents.

It most probably won't happen, but you can even see arsenal losing to villa to present us with an opportunity to go third, us failing to take advantage by slipping up at Swansea despite leading at half time and manure in turn f-ing up by failing to beat Bournemouth.
The fact that the above is at all feasible shows how how messed up are the contenders "battling" for 4th or 3rd this season.

Not like the good old days, the days when we could only dream about becoming " fking arsenal and finishing 3rd or 4th
