The bent referee - complain.

Just watching the game on sky football first. I can't believe the assessment of the ref made by trevor Francis. A strong performance, not taken in by some of the theatrics or the crowd today! He showed common sense in not booking yaya for dissent. Saw the game totally different to how I saw the game.

Seems you are quite happy. .... Rag

Lets do this by PM.

PM all you want but you are far too happy that someone agrees with you that you thought Dzeko handballed it ....

No he didn't! He corrected me and stated that Edin chested it to control the ball, And for the fifth time I said I thought maybe Edin may have used his upper arm to control the ball before shooting. I'm not arsed about that, but when are we going to have a drink on you over the rag comment?

yet he also questioned some decisions as well which made the comments even stranger

Come on folks get over it we are not those bitter fans over in Trafford blaming people. The ref did okay, to be fair Mario and Yaya could have easily seen yellows and potentially red.

We won get over it!!

Just got back to Devon after the game so lots of time to think about it. I have never seen a more corrupt refereeing performance at this level of football in my life. I was speechless at some of the decisions, he looked gutted every time we scored. Twat!

The ref was piss poor, i think he came into the game expecting wolves to be tough and us to dive and roll over like shot but it ended up being the other way round.

-- Sat Oct 29, 2011 9:33 pm --

The ref was piss poor, i think he came into the game expecting wolves to be tough and us to dive and roll over like shot but it ended up being the other way round.

Out of his depth. Totally. Not bent, nor corrupt, but totally and utterly incompetent. The only thing to his credit was that he was even-handedly embarrassing - the yellow on the Wolves lad early in the 2nd half was a baffling example. I hope we don't get him in a biggie - he could cause a major riot.

As I saw him leaving the pitch and both half and full time I got the impression that he probably thinks that he had a good game.

I have not read the full thread and not sure whether it's been mentioned, but wasn't atwell the ref in his first football league game who didn't give a goal after the ball had hit the back of the net and bounced out,yet he still got fast tracked ycmiu.
that was without a doubt the most inept refereeing performance I have seen in a long long time.

Apologies i mis read; however I'm not the only one who was questioning your posts on this threat. Put it down to an inept and incompetent ref clouding our views

We've had a ref from wythenshawe this season and now Wolves get a ref from Nuneaton, what is going on? Somebody is setting themselves up for a fall, shocking performance from him and now people have ammunition as to why.

He isn't bent, just incompetent.

Posted this on the Trevor Francis thread....

As for Atwell he is currently the worst PL referee, and today he was at his worst, only 29 too, so we have to have this cock for a long time yet. I despair at some of the idiots who referee, they are supposed to be there to "manage" the game, he's just dreadful, he was totally one sided, and yet he still made bad decisions for Wolves too.

His wikipedia page

His most infamous cock up.....

Less than a month later Attwell and one of his assistants, Nigel Bannister, were heavily censured for a decision to award an early goal to Reading in a Championship fixture against Watford on 20 September 2008. Bannister flagged for a goal instead of a corner after Watford's John Eustace played the ball over the byline - four yards wide of the goal post - before Reading's Noel Hunt hooked it back into play. Attwell awarded Reading a goal. The incident led to Attwell's one-game deferral from refereeing duties.

Yep my sentiments. We aren't the first team to have a bad ref and I have no qualms with the sendings off or bookings. They might have got two that could have gone either way but if they went our way they could have led to a goal so he took the easy option

And for the record mario did make a back for the defender on the challenge some are berating.

Good post, and yes he will have thought just that.

I know a referee from his area, he referees at county level, and runs the line in non league, he's older and has reffed longer than Attwell, but Attwell was fast tracked through their area. He's met him a number of times, been on courses with him, and he doesn't have a decent word for the bloke. Attwell now "coaches" the referees at the level my friend refs at, and he says he's an arrogant cock, full of "I am". I've watched games that Attwell has reffed with this guy at work, and he points out all the mistakes he makes.

His analysis is that Attwell is totally out of his depth at this level.

hold my hands up on the Mario one but 18 fouls to 6 you telling me they didn't do enough challenges to warrant that stat being a lot closer if not equal?

Yeah, I'm still simmering over today! and just watched MOTD where you'd think the ref was an angel!

There were two or three involving Edin and two or three involving yaya that they took the man and ball in niggly challenges. If he let them go we would have been in on goal. He took the easy option as a lot of refs do but you know some of them were correct as well as the easy decision.

He told silva to get up after his first challenge and thereafter didn't want to give him anything after. When that happened to Ronaldo when he was at the rags we were all for it whether he was fouled or not (not saying silva dived by any means just that once he thought he dived once it's harder to get any decision). Also Micah gets fouled and makes it look like he's been shot and he's been penalised for that before. They got away with a few without a doubt, not saying it was a good performance but all this is a bit ott. A poor performance, he got the big ones right though and we won. No need for all this.

If any referee allows this goal to stand then they certainly should never be put in charge of Premier League games.
