When I was a child it was Yellow Submarine.

When I was a teenager it was Norwegian Wood.

Now it is either Eleanor Rigby or A Day in The Life.
I guess I must still be a teenager at heart!

However Oracle, my choices are not set in stone. ;-)

Many a time I find a Beatles track that suits my mood and, for all of 3 minutes or so it will be my favourite for the evening.

And that is the mark of a great band.

The most incredible thing about the Beatles is how they made 3/4 albums in the space most bands make one these days, and they're all quality with very little filler.

The effect they had on society was immense. I remember my dad saying that when Sgt Pepper came out, someone brought in their copy the day it came outand they all sat there and listened...and listened...and listened..and discussed it and tried to evaulate it..but were really just completely overwhelmed.

It had a massive effect on him as a 19 year old. He said every album they did was simply revolutionary.

Hey Jude

Girl
Eight Days A Week
Strawberry Fields Forever
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
We Can Work It Out

Plus loads loads more! I'm only 21 but I really do wish I could have been around to live through that era.

Revolution in the Head is a fantastic read.
I've only dipped into it but I remember Ian Mac from his days with the NME and he never does anything by half measures.

He committed suicide about two years ago; listening to The Smiths, I heard...
