The best City performance you have ever seen?

Hard to pick best performance as I don't have a photographic memory for games. A lot of people have mentioned the 5-1 win at Spurs, which I'm pretty sure I attended and was thrilled by but I don't recall thinking it was the best performance I have seen. I saw some great performances in the 70's, murdering Newcastle, with Tueart giving a particulalry lethal performance often springs to mind. However, I have never seen us beat a team as good as that Barca side and we did it so convincingly. This is a game that will live long in the memory and I expect will achieve legendary status. I thought we were good last night at the ground; when I watched the match back today, I thought we were even better. This may have been the best performance I have seen from a City side; it's certainly a game that I want to watch again.

The 5-1 win away at Spurs in 2014 is one of the best. The first half was an absolute masterclass from City, especially Silva. The 1-0 v Arsenal in 2011-12 was an excellent game technically, hardly a wasted pass from either side. The 1-0 v the Rags is probably the most controlled performance I've seen from City, we absolutely throttled the life out of them but I didn't appreciate it at the time being so nervous.

Last night has got to be up there as they're probably the best opposition we've ever beaten. The fact we did it by coming from behind and playing the better football - as opposed to parking the bus and hanging on - demonstrates the quality of the football. They may have been without Iniesta, Pique and Alba but its worth bearing in mind that if we're missing arguably the best centre-half in Europe at the peak of his career.

Rings a bell with me too. At half time I thought we'd got away with that but when I watched it back on TV, I realised that the 1st half was a really good game of football, and that the errors were forced rather than careless. It was so open too. That was what was so significant about our win. We didn't sneak a win by scoring with our only attack and then sitting on it, we traded blows with them.

I do think this Barcelona team is slightly past its best though. Likewise Real Madrid. Looking forward to more highlights (ITV in a few minutes)

23rd October 1977. We played the all-conquering Liverpool team that was at the height of its powers. Like last night, we went 1-0 down and you thought that was the inevitable conclusion. But in the second half we turned it on, battered them and won 3-1. That was, quite simply, the best game I've ever seen.

Only saw last nights game via internet, it looked great, but for me my best City performance was v Huddersfield 10-1. I cheered my self hoarse and could hardly talk the next day, close second was 5-1 v Charlton to clinch promotion, all pale into insignificance after 3-2 v QPR. BEST, doesn't give it justice. Aguerooooo.

I'm going to go for the 3 0 win away at United when moyes was there as the best. Absolute domination. They were shit though so maybe doesn't count

Just watched from 38 minutes again and it really is a potent performance. Barca's only really dangerous moment in the second half was set up by Stones, who was otherwise superb.

No denying the current Barca are not the best of recent times and were not at full strength but they remain the benchmark.
