the 3-0 win at stamford bridge last season
the 3-0 win at stamford bridge last season
Rings a bell with me too. At half time I thought we'd got away with that but when I watched it back on TV, I realised that the 1st half was a really good game of football, and that the errors were forced rather than careless. It was so open too. That was what was so significant about our win. We didn't sneak a win by scoring with our only attack and then sitting on it, we traded blows with them.Hard to pick best performance as I don't have a photographic memory for games. A lot of people have mentioned the 5-1 win at Spurs, which I'm pretty sure I attended and was thrilled by but I don't recall thinking it was the best performance I have seen. I saw some great performances in the 70's, murdering Newcastle, with Tueart giving a particulalry lethal performance often springs to mind. However, I have never seen us beat a team as good as that Barca side and we did it so convincingly. This is a game that will live long in the memory and I expect will achieve legendary status. I thought we were good last night at the ground; when I watched the match back today, I thought we were even better. This may have been the best performance I have seen from a City side; it's certainly a game that I want to watch again.
That was that long ago I'd forgot it and i was very young did Royle, Kidd and Channon score certainly remember the windmilling arm.23rd October 1977. We played the all-conquering Liverpool team that was at the height of its powers. Like last night, we went 1-0 down and you thought that was the inevitable conclusion. But in the second half we turned it on, battered them and won 3-1. That was, quite simply, the best game I've ever seen.

I do think this Barcelona team is slightly past its best though. Likewise Real Madrid. Looking forward to more highlights (ITV in a few minutes)
6-1 I think, Bobby Owen got three :-)My Father reckons the Charity Shield against West Brom in '68 is the best we've ever played
