The best City performance you have ever seen?

Unfortunately you're wrong about Talksport. Listened to 5 mins of Man Utd local boy Goldstein on the way home before switching off. Apparently Barca were missing their 3 best players
Godlstein is one of lifes great W@@@ers so I would hesitate to judge Talkshite on the basis of that moron. They were generally full of praise on the early morning show and Brazil was almost excited by the performance so surprise surprise was a certain Danny Mills!!!

It seems difficult to comment about 'best performance' because you get into meaningless semantics about teams playing above themselves.

What it definitely was, with a shadow of doubt, was the best RESULT in City's entire history.
Don't want to downplay the importance/significance of last night but we need to remember it was only a group game which we needed to win much more than they did. It does of course lay down a marker for the future and builds confidence but in real tangible terms it is only 3 points arguably Celtics result in Germany was just as important within the context of the group as it almost certainly secures qualification.

Several unforgettable positive performances, but best performance so far would be last night be cause it is an indication of what we can become.

If we cut out the individual errors that we have been prone of having, and still have last night's intensity or more, we would be something else. We haven't yet hit our stride but we are getting there with consistency

I wonder what impact that result will have on City?

A surge in self-belief should result, and providing it is not accompanied by complacency this could propel team to new levels.

Tangibly yes. But intangibles may turn out to have great consequence. We all know it was just 3 points, but some victories can have a wider impact. So much of football is played out in the mind.

My personal favourite (in the flesh) was City 6 Spurs 0 back in November 2013.
i8 Spurs

Comparing performances from different eras is difficult & a little risky.

Last night we we magnificent for 70 minutes. However,lm going for the Schalke 04 semi final in 1970.

They were a very good side when German football was the best on the continent. Everyone of their players were seasoned internationals, and they were managed by the great Helmut Scherne, the national team coach.

CITY destroyed them with an outstanding display of 90 minutes attacking football & finishing. We were truely magnificent from first to last and Scherne described our performance as the finest he'd experienced from another club side.

A club with no history ?

The first half against Burnley in the 01/02 season was pretty special. First against second at the time and we absolutely battered them in the first half going 4-0 within 40 mins. Think we only lost one league game after that for the rest of the season

Would be my choice, in fact it was in Gary James' book about Joe Mercer

Iirc Schalke had not conceded a goal in Europe all season and when we lost the first leg 1-0 everyone said that was that

Oh what a night
