City have struggled at Full Back for over a year, and it’s ironic that the popular Zabaleta has aged considerably, whilst the much derided Kolarov is the only one who seems to have improved, albeit in a different position.
We don’t know whether Guardiola tried to address the issue last summer, but by utilising Navas and Fernandinho in recent games, it’s obvious where City will be focussing in the next Transfer Window.
As for the clearout, we know from bitter experience that it’s not that easy to make another club buy one of our underperforming, expensive drifters. We’ve also got some loanees potentially returning, as well as important decisions to be made concerning the future of the older EDS players.
Ideally, we want a leaner, hungrier, balanced squad, with no injury prone crocks, or peripheral wasters clogging the pathway for our stars of tomorrow.
Also, a decision needs to be made about Kompany. Brilliant if he features for the remainder of the season, and City finish strongly, but otherwise, we can’t waste a squad position.
