The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

Is it a real word?
Vainglorious people are vain, excessively boastful, and have swelled pride. The base word, vainglory, dates all the way back to the 14th century and means “worthless glory.” Definitions of vainglorious. adjective. feeling self-importance.

An example would be, say, going on about appearing on a fairly trivial TV show, especially if you came second out of two

Ouch.

I like stand up but feel I might be a bot hard to please, I don't find many who tickle my funny bone. I'm only half way through this playlist, well two fifths to be pedantic but so far...

Micky Flanagan was recommended to me by a friend recently but I never really followed it up. I think I was put off, totally unreasonably, by his cheeky chappie sarf London accent(it's probably north, what do I know). I liked this despite my preconceptions though and laughed out loud a few times, even when let's face it you knew what was coming. I probably will listen to more.

Jim Jeffries has popped up on my YouTube feed frequently (I fear I may have opened the door to videos of middle aged men doing the cockney conga now) and I think he is very good. His take on US gun control is well worth a listen. I did find this particular section a bit close to the bone though and although it made me laugh in places I kind of wish I hadn't heard it.

The rest to follow once I've heard them but I'm going top stick my head out and predict that I won't like the Billy Connolly. I saw him live many years ago and watched his tour of New Zealand series mainly to feed my semi obsession with the country at the time but never really got into his comedy. We'll see though, I'll have an open mind.

No one would do that. Would they?

I think its important to acknowledge that Bono is a bit of a nob. And U2 may have some good songs - but its all comes with a strong whiff of cheese.
So true but despite that and for some reason i really do like "One" and voted for it.
That said, it was a tough one as I do also love the James option. Andy Diagrams trumpet in particular takes me back to my teens and discovering The Pale Fountains and his sound.
Toughy but "One" perhaps as a guilty pleasure took the vote

Think you're mashing up your threads Journo! (but I agree with your view on these anyway)

We’ll just put you down for James.
