For all I know if you peel the onion Paul Hewson might be a very nice fella but Bono comes across as a sanctimonious twat and it does make a difference I think. Take this song which I think is a decent enough one but would be much better sung with authentic vulnerability rather than the faux kind and the slightly hectoring tone I've always thought it had (don't mind being 'preached to' in music after all soul was born out of gospel, but that's different from being 'preached at' if that makes sense)

Then we have Tim Booth doing his version of Jim Kerr's slightly less badly dressed little brother on this particular James track.

Decisions.

That is an astounding observation and one that I haven't really been able to articulate - absolutely cock on.

Other artists also fall into that trap in my humble opinion...........
