If my son had a say Cash would get the vote. He doesn’t though so it’s Crowded House. Great band, great song
Yep. Somebody said earlier that they didn’t see why this Crowded House song was so popular.Good as Cash is on this he was by then Jaded old country singer with a religious obsession singing a cover versus a young band creating their own unique sound at the start of their careers.
No competition for me.
I don't think the cover aspect played much into my thinking here -- especially with Cash, who covered a bunch of stuff and made a lot of covers his own. I just prefer this particular Crowded House song to this particular Johnny Cash song. Were it, say, "I Walk The Line" vs., say, "Something So Strong" I'd vote for Cash.Yep. Is it the masterful chorus, verse, melody and world class organ solo? In the 80s and 90s, Neil Finn wrote some of the best melodies and middle 8s since The Beatles. Versus a cover? Absolutely no contest.
Indeed. The look on his wife’s face… she knows this is it… the final act…Something so absorbing about that Johnny Cash video - one of the most powerful I’ve ever seen in Music. Have to catch my breath after that last 30-40 seconds. Amazing stuff and the beauty of Music.
