The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

I loved NIN's early stuff but think "Hurt" was one of their weaker songs on "The Downward Spiral". To be fair, JC added something to it and made it both stronger and more fragile.
As for NIN, I loved "Closer" on its release. Thought it was hilarious when the chart rundown on a Sunday afternoon on Radio 1 accidentally played the uncensored version!

Nothing between them and heading into extra time at the moment, might hang on and see if I can score the final pen in the shootout.

Cover song alert
:-)

Went for crowded House as without the video Johnny Cash version of Hurt is not as powerful.
One of those songs where the video and Cash not having a long time on this earth made the song a lot more powerful than it was without.
Never seen the video to it - still really like the song........

Quite possibly the finest Aussie exports ever (ok we kind of pinched them from New Zealand, but when has that ever stopped us)
One of the most perfect songs ever written, the bridge a particular highlight

Gimme Shelter is awesome live, especially the versions with Lisa Fischer on vocals with Mick
The versions with Mick Taylor on guitar from 73 & 74 tours were the pinnacle. Taylor’s playing on that song live is genuinely one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard, and I’m not even a huge fan of Stones.
Some amazing recordings of it out there on YouTube etc
