Probably another no contest. I will freely admit in this instance I've really voted out of a love of Forever Changes as an album rather than the specific song.
From a session cobbled together in the circumstances it was, Back On The Chain Gang is a fantastic song. Chrissie Hynde has had a great career anyway but who knows what could have been if JHS had been there too?
the love song is average at best, who did it beat in the first round??
Checks thread title and notes it's called the song cup:-)
“A lot better” is my answer. I may be in the minority but I think nothing her band did after the first two records is remotely close to as good as the debut and II. Maybe “Two Thousand Miles”, which is a Christmas song. Not to say the post-JHS stuff is bad — I voted for “Chain Gang” anyhow — but losing his guitar (and Farndon’s bass) took the “oomph” away.Chrissie Hynde has had a great career anyway but who knows what could have been if JHS had been there too?
