The Boxing thread

Just been reading about a lad called Luke Evans who fights on Nov 17th at Victoria Warehouse in town. His second fight back after getting assaulted in Aug last year. I can't post pics. but looks like he's been hit with an axe across his forehead. Hatton lad.

I watched the press conference earlier and i was impressed by Bellew. He was very respectful of his opponent and he displayed both humility and class, traits i previously hadn't associated with him.

Let me guess, did he not care about the result as long has he got home safe to his boss (wife) and kids and this is defo his last fight as its a ruthless sport that takes a mentally unstable person to want to get their face punched in and he already gets enough of that at home off the boss (wife). Mixed with errrms and lots of flem.

Bore off Bomber bellend

Hearn you to stack the undercard of PPV shows with proper 50/50 match ups. It made it easier to stump up when the main event wasn't really PPV worthy.

He's not done that for a long time now.

I hope this and his forthcoming events flop commercially so he's forced to rethink the model.
It's not Hearn's fault. It's Sky's. They have a very low budget for Boxing so in order to pay the fighter's the money they are asking for, PPV has to exist. It's shit but is far from Hearn's fault. There isn't another UK broadcaster who will take on the risk by directly paying the fighters so it's not as though he can either go to a rival UK broadcaster.

And sadly, if the PPV's do flop (they won't), Boxing will be back to where it was pre-Hearn - basically on it's arse in the UK.

Not sure if Ive missed your point here but Joshua just beat his WBA mandatory, will probably face his WBO mandatory in Whyte in April and will then have to deal with Pulev for the IBF.
Yeah, Joshua's resume is pretty much immaculate. He's faced the #1 guy, two #3 guys, the current #5 and the current #8 in the division. Fury and Wilder have only faced 1 top 10 guy each.

He’s hard to listen to, cringeworthy. But mates of mine in boxing who encounter him say you couldn’t meet a nicer bloke
