The Boxing thread

But it will be hotter than the water breaks we had in the PL during the heat wave.

I listened to some of the previous WC players who had to compete in extreme weather. Some of them said they weren't allowed drinks and they got on with it and others said it doesn't take 3 mins to get a few mouthfuls of water down you.

The latter I agree with. 1 min tops as we only have 30 secs, officially, now!

Have you sparred with anyone noteable recently?
I stopped sparring years ago, I go and train whilst my son has his one to one sessions.

We stopped doing group sessions as they aren't as good as what they once were and too be honest not as many as what there once was also.

There's a couple of lads on here that go to the same gym as me who would have better insight at the gym that I would as they spar and keep tabs on others as I'm only there for my son really.

I stopped in 1989 so fair play.

He has every right to.

Fury's been at him on social media, so he's clearly wanting the fight too!!

Explain the difference.
The difference?

If Fury had fucked about with a midget for a few rounds and then knocked him down and shouted after AJ I'd say the same thing.

They can both talk shite to each other all they want and pretend they want the fight for another year, no problem with that.

But calling out the other like he's next in line when a YouTuber lasted six rounds against you isn't the Billy Big bollocks move he thinks it is.

So...

How do you figure Fury getting put to the canvas by an MMA fighter who had never boxed, professionally, and getting a questionable decision to save his blushes and Joshua KO-ing that same fighter in their bout?

It's not Joshua running. It's Fury and it has been for quite a while. There's no excuse they can't fight now and put it to bed.

I think your thought process is highly suspect on this.

I think they're both running otherwise it would have been done years ago and I think your thought process is very biased.

I'm not biased. I look at the facts.

Both were looking for prestigious fights before, Fury after Wilder, Joshua fighting Usyk.

So, now, they're on the downward spiral and there's no excuses.

It would make sense before they're totally over the hill.

I'm glad some of you are seeing what actually happened in that "fight". That, yeah, there was a serious lack of the actual word from one "boxer"!

Jake Paul embarrassed himself, hugely. To think he was training for a guy 5' 9" originally!!

@GornikDaze was absolutely bang on dropping the Laurel and Hardy YT clip earlier (one of my absolute favourite 'L & H' films by the way, so thanks for that!), cos that's exactly what I was looking for in my head when watching the circus event!

I'm really not sure how anyone can criticise Joshua for not KO-ing Paul "in the first round"?? You could, visablly, see how frustrated Joshua was getting with the antics (and potential embarrassment) of Paul's game plan of sticking (??) and moving (running) and aiming for a points win/ freak lucky punch. I would feel the same expecting a fight, not a marathon!!

So, under these extraordinary circumstances and Jake Paul's almost effect mind games, I thought Anthony Joshua did quite well in a 22 sq ft ring!! I think now Jake Paul knows what a real heavyweight feels like and won't ever fight at the weight again. But he, also, doesn't have the power and technique to fight at cruiserweight either.

I think he'll wind down his "project" within 2 years if he keeps pursuing real boxers with actual skills.
I couldn’t find the clip I wanted - the bit where he’s basically just running around the ring, but I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Hard boiled eggs and nuts is one of my favourites :)

To be fair, I've watched my fair share of shit World Cup games where the hot conditions meant the players couldn't play at their best.
