The Boxing thread

Everybody is entitled to an opinion mate, especially paying customers.

Where I do have a problem, is where entitled Brits build up their athletes and performers then break them down again. Everyone will suddenly care again when AJ does a Frank Bruno. He is a human being who has tried his very best and come up short on the world stage a few times.

Not many people in the world could turn up and put their body through what elite performers do every day, nor make the sacrifices they make. AJ has given paying customers in the arenas and pubs some of the best nights of their lives, and won gold at the Olympics for his country. People should have more respect for him as a human being, anybody who's got into a ring at any level knows it's a lot harder than just 'move your head' or 'throw more combos'.

The lad has clearly held the weight of the world on his shoulders for 10 years and it's all got a bit too much. Poisonous opinions cause mental health problems, rich and famous or not. We have an endemic issue in this country amongst young men, and Joe public's behaviour towards other young men is at the root of the problem.
Okay. But that's not what you said last night, what I replied to.

No shame in being second best in a hard fought 12 rounder.
The problem I have with Joshua is the hype is often at odds with his ability.
Sure he’s a skilled operator but he’s also got one or two flaws that will see him never quite get to the top again
His reputation and ability to bring in big bucks at the box office will see him get more opportunities but I don’t see him holding another belt before he calls it a day.

I may be misunderstanding your post that suggests that it is crazy to think that Fury would beat Usyk: is that what you are saying?
No mate it was aimed a post which said wilder would beat usyk . As for fury - usyk. Genuine 50/50 fight

I actually felt sorry for Usyk ffs a night that should have been about HIM was turned yet again into the Mr Hype show ............ I really hope he’s done now the hype around him really is shocking

I'm not watching any of those Joshua clips. It's not entertaining to watch a man who is physically and mentally exhausted after 12 rounds of being hit, trying not to be hit and hitting back. After constantly doing the same with the public. Having to deal with his dreams being shattered in front of millions whilst being that worn out. Having possibly suffered some type of concussion, fatigue, mental break down. When he acts in the way the mind and body probably is supposed to do we all laugh at him.

Only if he has a full breakdown will the British public warm to him again. But only if he toes the line and humbles himself. Doffs his cap to us before eventually winning dancing on ice and appearing on numerous panel shows smiling and laughing at the jokes the chosen left of center middle class jesters make about him.

To be honest, it's ridiculous that we allow them to be interviewed after the fight (do we really expect them to be thinking rationally and have a good take on hoe the fight went)?

Recently re-watched the first Froch-Groves installment and whilst Carl doesn't need too many invitations too come off as a bit of a nob at times, he has to be reminded that he was heavily floored I'm the first during his post fight interview.

With that in mind, how can we expect him to give any kind of insightful interview?

Joshua definitely comes off a nob for grabbing the mic on Saturday but as I've posted earlier on, his team should not have allowed it if he was showing signs off not thinking particularly straight.

He was let down badly..............
