The Boxing thread

It's far more enjoyable to pop someone with a jab then move out of range or slide under a shot than to stand in front of them landing big shots. It's what boxing's all about.

Someone like Hopkins or Whitaker were able to stand in the pocket for the entire fight and still be able to land their own shots without taking a single bit of punishment. That to me means being a better boxer than someone running a 5k in the ring.

You thought that fight was more enjoyable than a Corrales/Castillo? Or even Rios/Alvarado from a couple of weeks ago?

-- 17 Apr 2013, 17:30 --

Mayweather lying on the ropes slipping everything that comes at him using the shoulder roll is in no way similar to what Rigo did.

Don't like him either but he answered a few questions tonight

Disagree. He recovered well from the knock down but he struggled for a few rounds against a 36 year old who is 3 stone lighter and about 5 inches shorter. Fury only won cos he's a lot bigger and more powerful.

As soon as he fights someone decent who's around his size and weight he'll get well and truly hammered.
