The Boxing thread

Murray v Crolla was a top fight, (if slightly predictable). Murray had to win inside 6/7 rounds because he was always going to tire as the fight went on.
Crolla though showed real class to stay with him and then pick him off.
Met Crolla a couple of times and he really is the nicest guy in boxing. That doesn't always produce winners but I'm really pleased for him! He's come back brilliantly since his defeat to Derry Matthews, in their first fight.

No disrespect but to get beat by an ageing Derry Mathews he mustn't be top drawer on a. World class level?? No boxing expert just trying to gage his level???

There's is no way in a million years is Crolla world class. He is far too weak a puncher plus he also has Joe Gallagher in his corner who at best can train fighters to a Euro level. I just wish John would have had a few more fights before facing Crolla then I think he would have wiped the floor with him.

Well said mate completely agree Ant Crolla is a top bloke, rag or not he is a great guy and getting better all the time.

Big respect to John Murray as well another great bloke who I've enjoyed watching throughout his career-never let anybody down and made the most of his talents. Time to call it a day though before he gets really hurt.

Great fight last night, I know Anthony pretty well was talking to him on Friday night and that was exactly how he said the fight would go, a lot of experts doubt his ability to stay in with the big punchers but he's a lot tougher than people give him credit for.

Everyone can see he doesn't possess explosive power but his boxing skills are enough for him to at least get a shot at world level.

As for Murray he's a top lad brave as a lion but I agree it's time for him to cask it a day now he's got himself as fit as he has been but is just not there anymore.

Agreed Crolla is very skilled and has the heart of a lion, getting better every fight and a top lad despite being a rag :)

I don't think John should retire it was close a really good fight. I think the public would pay the money to see it again. So I hope we see it again. I think he can come back again and even beat Crolla. Crolla v Ormond be a good fight think Stephen Ormond is so under rated and could be a fight away from the big fights.

Beating a shot Murray doesn't put Crolla anywhere near world level but that's not to detract from an excellent performance from him in a really enjoyable fight.

I hope to God that Murray retires now.

As I said earlier Crolla v Ormond be a good fight to have on. I didn't like Joe Gallagher being disrespectful to other fighters not on in my opinion your there to train a fighter not talk for them.

Also just seen there 1 of the better Irish ams has signed up to Golden Boy in Jason Quigley. Good am will look forward to seeing how he progresses along.
