The Boxing thread

Wilder picking up a injury during the fight wonder how long he be out for.
As for Rigo always found it hard was always hard to get him fights when Gary Hyde was managing and promotioning him at times. Found it hard to get him the fights. I think Rigo is tied up to the WBA for a bit think he has to fight the regular champion next. I think if Warren could he would promote him well. I think you look a fight with Kid Galahad could be made and Quigg at Super Bamtamweight also a fight with Frampton at a catch weight might happen as I cant see Carl back down at Superbamtamweight again.

Wilder wanting the Furys, not sure if he means both/either or just being plural for no reason. Hughie Fury was offered the Wilder fight last summer but it only left him about 6 weeks to train so was turned down. I can't see the hand injury stopping him fighting in 5 or 6 months like he would probably has scheduled anyway.

I think Carl will adjust easy to the weight. LSC is a busy fighter and makes it hard for opponents to win the rnds, i reckon Carl will need a KO to win this one. Hopefully he catches Cruz with the counter, he's got a decent dig. Tough ask to outbox Cruz for 12rnds.

Music to my ears... He's become senile over the past 5 years or so... His commentary for mayweather v Hatton was a disgrace, as was froch v groves 1....
Yeah. Met him a good few years ago, nice fella. I think his partnership with the much missed Reg Gutteridge helped him out a lot, esp on stats. Used to love Reg commentating.

'Aaaaaaram punches'

The fundamental flaws with Watt.
No.1) He picks a winner before the opening bell. He then spends the rest of the fight praising his choice and being over critical in the loser. That way he looks like a genius when it goes right, and if it goes wrong he talks up how well his choice fought.

No.2) No analytical insight given, just tells me what my eyes are seeing and not an experts opinion. I know.my boxing but he has forgotten more than I will know, but he isnt able to articulate so. Same as Johnny Nelson and Mcrory, their views pre fight are 'the winner will be who wants it more', what a cop out of a remark.

No.3) Watt has an awful habit of being biased to Sky fighters, I have no stock in brown nosers.

To close, he has had a sound career. He was a Champion when being one actually meant something. All the best to him, one Scotlands best ever fighters. He has the career Buchanan should have had outside the ring. But he had the wisdom and self discipline not to go to the wall like Buchanan and others.

Often wondered if he was watching the same fight with his commentary. He's had to bury two of his kids in recent years, hopefully he enjoys his retirement.

Now if Nick Halling would just do the honourable thing and retire alongside Jim, Sky can allow some of their quality boxing commentators a bit more air time. Jamie Moore, Paul Smith, Ed Robinson to name just 3 can flourish on the mic

Great news, Jim Watt retired from boxing commentary. I can't stand his inept so called profession knowledge

I remember him totally ruining the De-La-Hoya v Ike Quarty fight
2 unbeaten guys in their prime skilfully looking to pick their shots and time each other and all Watt did was fucking Moan the whole way through, 2 knockdowns in the 6th and an incredible last
But he just moaned

Live on Boxnation @ 2am.

Terence Crawford v Viktor Postal should be a decent fight. TC is the WBO holder and Postal has the WBC belt. For me Crawfords the best out there at 140.

I think Carl has a great chance. Against Santa Cruz dont under rate Carls boxing skills. Carl in his last gight with Quigg was dominant in the jab against a guy with a longer reach. Also Carl has boxed against some great Ams in the past and he looked the part always suited to the pro game. He will be able to cope with LSC. LSC is a come foward fighter this plays into Carls hands him counter punching his way in. I agree he may need a KO to win but I honestly think he has the skills to win wide on the cards. With plenty in hand. Carls power will be better up in weight which will help him long term. Should be a good 1.

As for Jim Watt no major loss. Get Ian Darke back he is the best play by play commentator. Also have him alongside a Jonny Nelson or Mat Macklin both seem good. I agree Ed Robinson needs a bigger part to play in the coverage he has the passion to bring Skys coverage on to a higher leve than before. I think Sky need to change it up. And with Watt going then time for a overhaul change.

Hope your right mate, still think Cruz on points. Just hope the scoring is fair and Carl dosnt get on the end of a bad decision. He's definitely in with a shout no doubt about that, Shanes no mug and will have his boy ready.

Looking forward to seeing Mikey Garcia back in the ring next week.
