The Boxing thread

Rob McCracken is a good trainer in my eyes. But watching Joshua there it was like he is trying to turn Joshua into a Carl Froch version 2. Froch has a great chin and limited in some areas compared to AJ. Just my opinion that AJ is with the wrong trainer at the moment. I know there only 2 fights in and AJ if he boxes will dominate the Heavyweights for a long time behind his jab. McCracken for me defence wise Froch at times was easy to hit and AJ over the weekend was easy to hit too. I think Klitschko had him going should of went for broke when he had him down and jump on him. Didnt at the stage of the ending i had AJ behind by 1 round. A rematch i wouldnt mind seeing. Think a fight with Wilder might end badly with McCracken in his corner. Against anyone else then I would favour AJ.

I think Wilder is a perfect fight for AJ style wise mate, i reckon he'd stop him.

Each to there own. I think with McCracken it will be the same as Klitschko he will think he will be able to have a proper ding dong in the centre of the ring. I hope i am wrong about AJ and McCracken turning him into a new Froch.

Don't disagree, its a valid point regarding McCracken and he could arguably improve his defence with a different trainer. Josh seems a loyal lad so don't see that changing anytime soon. Still havn't seen enough in Wilder for me to worry for AJ, still think the fury fight would pose more questions. I'm not saying Wilder is poor just think the kid is better.

He wouldn't necessarily need to switch trainer, he's got the resources to bring in extra trainers to just work on things like his defence ontop of what he's doing with McCracken, there's people stateside who could really improve him(I can't think of any UK trainers known for being defense gurus).

Still think he'll reamain loyal to McCracken but can't argue with that.

I wouldnt mind seeing a Virgil Hunter in with AJ. He and Andre Ward its the complete defensive fighter. Him in AJs coner and with AJ being a bit of a banger too would be a better match that McCracken for me.

I have been wondering whether the Klitschkos will go into training after they retire, seems like they have a lot to pass on especially from Emanuel Steward who transformed them both in a way.

Alvarez fights Chavez jnr tomorrow night in vegas at catchweight. Canelo by stoppage for me.
I've not been watching the buildup but I've heard Canelo is mad as anything at Chavez(his brother lost by KO to Chavez's brother recently, family feud with lots of pride on the line)... could either work for or against him being so fired up. I think Canelo has always been short tempered so I don't think the emotions will affect the fight against him too much(stranger things have happened though), I'd say Canelo by stoppage too but Chavez is the naturally bigger fighter and has a good chin so it may be accumulation that does the job.

Weight agreed was 164.5 with both fighters having to pay a million dollars for each pound over.

You can't beat a good family feud, our kid got married in vegas it was like shameless in the sun.

Having thought about it I think the feud will probably work in Canelo's favour, his defence is so underrated when people talk about him it's barely mentioned but he's so good at making people miss and picking the right time to make them pay for it.

Parker is surely better than this, I think the pressure to put on a show might have worked against him, he will have been aware he needed to impress to line up some big money fights while the Heavyweight division is buzzing.

Shame that one, Was looking forward to seeing Parker and we would have seen a better fight if he was against fury. Raz showed he was a sparring partner only and didnt throw anything
