The Boxing thread

Groves got the job done, his downfall in the past seems to be his concentration, getting tagged by silly shots. Great jab and hits hard, hopefully Shane works on his defence and he moves on.

A good solid start for George with Shane. I always think that they need 2 to 3 fights under a new trainer to see more improvement. So I think George and Shane may well work well together. Its a start a good win. Get George in with Paul Smith if he is still fighting. A win there might open up a fight with Arthur Abraham for Groves.

Kevin yeah we will see what happens. Get your money on that prediction. You never know it might happen. Just for the life of me watching both fighters we have seen what Quigg struggles with and what Frampton does. I think with Quigg he struggled with Sallinas who was a year out of the ring and he boxed Quigg and had him done with until he tired. Boxed keeping it at range. Quigg struggled in the first round with Kikos power yeah i know he won the fight but you could see him looking uncomfortable under the pressure and power. Carl can do both box on back foot behind a brilliant jab and go and pressure a fighter and knock them out. Carl looked bad in that first round of his last fight but got up and boxed his way to a comfortable win. Carl can revert back to a different plan. Think Carl wins the fight could stop him or could just keep him behind the jab all night long.

Kovalev looked the business last night, Pascal was getting beaten up but boxed on despite Freddie wanting to call it a day. Not sure who can cope with them shots, think ward would try to make it like the froch fight, get behind the jab, tigh him up and win ugly. Will be interesting to see how AD copes after moving up. He seems to got over his shoulder injury and back on track. Shame Paul smith didn't take him seriously, the fat ****.

The rematch nobody wanted. Not going to lie I thought Gonzalez beat Pascal before it aswell.[/QUOTE

Agreed mate, Pascal didn't do enough in the 1st fight to warrant another crack. There were accusations of racism from Pascals camp prior to this fight, not sure what that's all about.

Most people seem to think it was just an effort to get under Kovas skin. Pretty poor choice of ammunition though.

So with Klitschko beaten and Money retired who now is the pound for pound king these days. I think its so close to see who is the best out there now my top 5 and it changes a lot to be honest would be.
5 Danny Garcia
4 Guillermo Rigondeaux ( If he was more active he be top )
3 Andre Ward ( like Rigondeaux )
2 Gennady Golovkin
1 Sergey Kovalev

The top 2 for me changes fight after fight.

Also David Haye calling out AJ hopefully that happens in the summer.
