The Boxing thread

Really enjoy watching 'The Gloves Are Off' with Johnny Nelson who keeps good order and asks the sensible questions. We've now had,

Froch v Groves, Cleverly v Bellew, Eubank Jnr v O'sullivan, Josh v Dillian Whyte and now Frampton v Quigg. May of missed a few but always remember Bellew coming across as the biggest slapped arse. I want Quigg to win because he's English, but I still think Frampton will have too much and win on points.

Not sure on this Joshua Martin fight, obviously think Joshua will win but then hes stuck with a belt that him and Eddie will most probably hold hostage because hes not got the top level experience for proper world title fights. Personally would have left it a year or so fighting world level contenders but this way they can do something similar to Kell Brook keep a belt, sell fights and not really go near anyone dangerous. Hope Im wrong

Gloves are off is always good. Frampton v Quigg be a good fight. Just think Carl to some might come off as being a **** but he is so confident in winning the fight. Dont get me wrong Quigg is good but what Frampton has said about Scott was true Scott was given his title and not won it in the ring. Also the pressure on Quigg topping a bill might get to him too. IF Frampton boxes he will have too much for Quigg and will break Quigg down and could well stop him late on.

As for AJ fighting for the World title. Well can see Hearn hoping AJ wins. Then it could well set up a monster fight with David Haye or Tyson Fury in the future. Just feel it might be early for him too. It could go either way the fight if he is tagged hard and how he deals with it will make or break AJ.

Whatever happens, the atmospheres gonna be amazing. Really looking forward to McCullough v Isaac Lowe & Luke Wilton v Charlie Edwards at flyweight. With City at Wembley the next day, what's not to like.

I do like Haye but he doesn't yet deserve a shot at a world champion Joshua. He's comfortably won a mismatched comeback. It's a shame Fury won't face him.

Kevin I may be slightly bias I have watched him from Ams all the way up to the pros and have seen his talent he is truely a world class operator. To say he comes across arrogant what fighter doesnt? If you dont beleive your going to be the best then no point in fighting. Look at Eddie Hearn and Joe Gallagher they are just as arrogant if not more compared to Frampton. Both guys are going to fight at the end of the month it should be a good 1 while it lasts.

As for 1 to watch out for in the future I think we could well have another World Champion in the future with Tommy McCarthy he is going to blow apart the Cruiserweight division in the next year to 2 years in UK and is on the card for the Ryan Burnett Belfast show so will be on Sky soon check him out got a big big future in him.

Marco McCullough is a decent fighter. For Marco already it is make or break fight for him another defeat and he may as well retitre from the ring. Got KO;d in germany a few fights back this is a must win fight. Be good to see who they get Ryan Burnett in with too that kid there is the most gifted boxer i have seen coming out of Ireland. He could potentially replace Frampton in the Super Bamtamweight division in the future and do extremely well. Boxing in Belfast is going to explode soon with a lot of World champions.

Watched the gloves are off last night, don't think I'm gonna bother with them anymore though they are shite. Think the last decent one they did was with all the middleweights Murray, Macklin, Barker and Lee (and even then they didn't get round to fighting each other)

Maybe you are right Leighton just read Kiko Martinez view on the fight and he expects Frampton to win!

Nothing wrong with bias but I've followed Quigg from the beginning and I'm confident he will win.

May the best man win.

Yeah may the best man win indeed. The head to head should be good see and the weigh in and final press conference as if you look at some fighters asked of there opinion on the fight lots are going with Frampton. You got Kiko and Kid Gallahad all calling a Frampton win even the split on the Matchroom bias Sky coverage are split. Even the fighters on the undercard seem to think Frampton will win Ryan Burnett said Frampton was the best he ever sparred with.

Regarding the gloves are off it depends on the edit. Framptons team were not happy with the final edit of the last 1. I think the gloves are off is a good programe rather see them getting more of the old fighters in to do it. They done it with Eubank , Collins , Benn and someone else and it was brilliant. I would love 1 of the heavyweights Lewis , Tyson ,Holyfield and Klitschko snr that be cool to see.
