Well Macklin seems to think he will get a rematch. After his fight he said that everyone at ringside had him winning the fight even German tv. I think he even mentioned it will happen in November. Now dont get me wrong I wont believe it until it is signed up but like any fighter going to Germany to fight the German fighter they need a KO to win the title. To do so little in rounds and win on 2 of the judges cards by 4 rounds is a joke. It was like scoring you see in Am fights they were scoring Strums cleaner shots. While Macklins body shots were getting overlooked by the 2 judges. Even the computer had Macklin ahead on punches landed going when they brought it up going into the final 2 rounds. He out worked the champion at home but didnt get the result.
 
I had Macklin by 2 clear rounds (giving Sturm the benefit on a few aswell given it was a German on home soil) think Woodhall was spot-on with his assessment tbh.
Two places I would NEVER consider fighting as a Pro, Germany`s one, Italy's the other.
 
to be honest after the 6th round i don't think macklin got a round. so it was either a draw, or sturn just takes it as i think it was the 6th that was hard to call. don't know what sturn was playing at in the first half of the fight, almost threw it away, still think he just deserved to win for better quality and hurtful work
 
Macklin won the first half of the fight with his workrate i thought the right
hook he kept planting under sturns ribcage was working a treat & was great
tacticts by joe gallagher, But as they went into the second half sturn started
to come back into it with his accurate & crisp punches . So that made the
fight hard to call i thought macklin just edged it he was the one doing all
the pressing & looked like he wanted it more after that performance he
deserves a rematch but dont think sturn would fancy it to be honest .
 
Close fight. Macklin was unlucky. It wasn't a robbery, although 116-112 was too much.

I think i had Sturm by a round, but it depends on what you like really.....aggression, or more effective punching.

Sturm just looked a lot bigger and his punches had more on them, which isn't surprising considering he's naturally the bigger guy. Macklin gave a great performance though.
 
After rewatching the fight just there I still cant believe that they scored it the way they did in favour of Sturm. Every time Sturm hit Macklin. Macklin came back with more work rate and body shots and was catching Sturm with clean shots. I hope they get it on again and if they do Macklin will take this. Not been a great time for Irish fighters in World title fights. Macklin gets robbed in Germany and McCloskey got stopped for fuck all against Khannn when he was starting to come into the fight.

He was getting through the gaurd of sturm a number of straights and jabs were on target as were some of his hooks. I dont think he scored much from them compared to his body shots. Even if you were to go by the crowd watching they didnt come into the fight until the last couple of rounds.

Sat1 the station in Germany who showed the fight 70% of there viewers had the fight to Macklin. Boxing News had it to Macklin and most of the media had Macklin winning.

I know a writer over here who went to it and his site will have some videos up on it by tomorrow.

Paul has got some questionable wins. Can you remember the farce of the Kermit Cintron fight before he got smashed by Martinez were Cintron fell out of the ring and injured himself. Paul won the fight on California rule that it went to the score cards no matter what. Shocked he is fighting at Light Middleweight trying to make that weight now must be hard for Williams.

Also a lot of rumours going on about Macklin v Sturm being sorted for the end of November nothing has been signed. Team Macklin were in the US talking to the main PPV stations out there it seems they want him to fight Marthinez on Paddys day next year so Macklin could have a warm up fight and then face Marthinez instead. They dont know what to do at the moment. So I think they are hoping to get the Sturm v Macklin over in the US on the same night as Barker v Marthinez so with the winners fighting each other. Barker is nowhere near that level in my opinion I would fancy Lee and Macklin KOing Barker if they ever boxed.

Next weekends Warrens card looks a good one. With Murray v Mitchell also rumours that Mitchell will pull out of this fight has been going around as well. Bellew v McKenzie should be fireworks here fancy McKenzie to spark Bellew out. Also the Burns world title fight against Nicky Cook how Cook is getting a World title shot I will never know. Funtime Frankie Gavin against Curtis Woodhouse should be a decent test for Gavin but Gavins class will be too much. The more I see of Gavin the better he gets Warren should be looking at him and pushing him up the next level.
 
I see vitali has started making noises about the chance of fighting haye .
It seems like he fancys some of that cash that his younger brother got
for shutting hays big mouth . Ive always thought haye wouldnt retire just
yet & it looks likely that this fight could be on .
Though vitali is a few years older than his brother i think hes a better fighter
& could well put haye to sleep around 6th round then that should prompt haye
to finally call it a day .

Vit is a brilliant fighter at his peak he was in my views one of the best going. I honestly think if Vit boxed Lewis again he would of beaten Lewis a nasty cut on that night forced the retirement of Vit and Lewis retired straight after the fight.

Regarding a fight with Haye Vit is getting on now. I think he should retire Haye would have a great chance against Vit as his movement isnt there any more in my view. If Haye stands and slugs it out with Vit it could be troble for Haye but quicker movement and Haye may well be pick of Vit in my view. I wouldnt mind seeing Haye v Vit and it wouldnt shock me if Haye won this fight mainly because of Vits age and suddenly it shows in the ring. That was the worst I have seen Haye in years he is better than that and his injury must of been a cause to how poor he was. 1 last big Pay day Beats Vit and he can retire with his head held high. Depending on him if he is willing to wait around for a fight this fight wont happen this year but will Haye be willing to fight on just for the money sake or not.

I dont think anything could of prepared the world for how bad Haye was against Wlad. I think the reason he is against retiring now is because if i was him i wouldn't want to go out like that, he must be embarrassed beyond belief at that performance
 
Good luck to john murray tonight in his fight with mitchell its gonna be a tough
night for both boxers . Im going for john cos hes a local lad & hes got joe
gallagher in his corner who i reckon is a top trainer so come on murray.
