The flack Haye is getting now would have been obvious to see coming as I said... not at all what any of Haye's team wants going into the fight, the media and fans are already bringing up the Tyson fiasco and the Klitschko toe excuse he's not dumb nor are his team it's brought nothing but bad mojo, they don't need mind games is the strongest point to make because Haye truly believes he has the beating of him(as he should). The only other reason for it IMO would be to bump up viewing figures giving Bellew more of a chance with an injury rumour(probably doesn't have one at all) it might have been something the promotion teams agreed on when I think about it they both want a pay day, I can certainly see Haye taking a bit more stick than usual if it meant a bigger pay day.Nobody is backing Bellew, that isn't the issue, a leak like that stems from within, hence the specifics to the injury and Bellew quick to highlight he has to fight... You're ignoring the fact that Haye will have a clause in the contract pertaining to payouts and injuries... He'd get in that ring with an arm in the sling and bandage over his eye, he's undoubtedly unsettling Bellew as it will be his biggest ever guaranteed pay day, that will now play on his mind up until the night of the fight.... It's now 1-1 after the press conference!!
We don't know the specifics of the contracts so it's a bit pointless to speculate but injuries rarely affect payouts unless it results in a no contest, the fight will not be allowed to go ahead in the first place if he's not fit to fight there's all sorts of regulations to comply with and Haye will probably be thoroughly checked out as a result of this rumour(another reason not to leak it if that was the plan). If he has an injury and the plan is what? To make it a no contest? Risk losing and use that as an excuse? He would know he would get slaughtered for that reputation wise, whatever gain he'd make in the short term financially it would cost him far more long term.
Personally I think Haye would be best served not blasting him out in a couple of rounds and making the actual fight more of a spectacle for once, he can talk up his viewers all he wants but he knows damn well he has to start putting on some good fights, even the casuals will start tuning out soon.
