The Boxing thread

I'm sure I read somewhere that Brook had his eyeball removed so they could put things right last time, ok iot's the other eye this time but it can't fail to have been on his mind once his eye started to close and become uncomfortable.

Brook put up a good fight but maybe the memories got the better of him in the end, which will probably mean him retiring now.

As a right hander, if he loses the vision in his left eye, he is fighting blind and missing every right hand coming his way.

It was clear from the middle of the fight that Brook was behind on points, and after the first knee, it was going to require a knockout that was never going to come. Spence was the aggressor and in front from the outset. He was faster, crisper and moving better. He never looked like losing unless he got copped by something he didn't see coming, and there was only one fighter that was going to happen to...and it wasn't Spence. Good young fighter who fought too fast for Brook from the outset, so the best man won...by far.

He said something to Ingle in between rounds, and Ingle said something along the lines of "it looks alright to me".

If he's going to stress out every time an eye swells up, he's finished at world level. Especially if he moves up as he'll no longer be 'big at the weight'
It's that GGG fight that's done him, them demons came back as soon as he felt something wrong with that eye and I'm sure that was always on the back of his mind. Really think he should just retire, if it's as bad as he says no point risking going blind.

Multi-millionaire who could buy a nice estate ont' outskirts of Sheffield and always be adored for the charity work he does for the areas poor, children and the aged. Sounds like a no-brainer.

Painful to see Kell's career go like this. GGG has hit him so hard, he's now a broken man. Eddie Hearn must take the blame for the stupid step up to fight Gennady, and the worse decision to throw him straight in at 147 against a young speed merchant without any warm up

I think with the fights over the weekend it was great for George Groves to finally win a World title so unlucky with Froch in the first fight not to have stopped him. Now it opens up so many big all British Fights. A fight with DeGale 2 would be a good fight in a Unification fight or against Smith would be another big domestic fight. I truely think Groves is the best Brit in his division.

As for the Kell Brook v Spence Jnr fight. Spence always had the extra gear to go into. At times he coasted the fight never looked in any major troble and to go into the home fighters home town and KO him for a World title there is no better way to win your first title. I honestly feel Spence Jnr can be the next fighter to go up the weights and do extremely well and he could well be a new P4P King. Sure I am happy I done him to win by KO so i got paid out so happy days.

As for Kell long term. Move up weight and see how he does. There is still 1 fight out there that will pay and be a final pay day him v Khan. Its a no brainer if he heals up well who knows. He may need to get the winning feel back before a fight with Khan a 10 rounder then the Khan fight in 2018 might be good to see. As for Hearn not protecting him. Hearn has been on record saying that Kell dropping back down he didnt agree with it. So maybe Kell should of been a bit more realistic and say well fuck it I need to move up a weight. The body punching at times from Spence was a joy to watch at times.

Cheers, i watched the first 4 rounds and Burnett was in charge, but the daughter is doing a sleepover so i was ushered upstairs lively haha!

Haskins had a problem with his right arm after about the 6th. It was all one way traffic, really.
Haskins got put down a couple of times and could never do enough to make it close.

With 2 10-8 rounds that scorecard had to be a mistake
I'm sure that will be made clear in next couple of days

Burnett is a class act. I always loved seeing him fight. Honestly think he will be the best of the lot out of the fighters up there in the North at the moment. Irish boxing needs the likes of Burnett , Frampton , Jason Quigley and Michael Conlan and Paddy Barnes all fighting and all top class amaturs and will be all good to watch in the coming years. Honestly think most of that list could be future World Champions.
Burnett has a great team behind him and he will be in some more big time fights. I can see within a year a big fight with Burnett v McDonnell in a unification fight if McDonnell stays in Bamtamweight. Be a really good money earner for both fighters.
