The Boxing thread

I'm pretty annoyed at the continued insistence that Gutierrez had to retire (or should be pulled out) - don't get me wrong I don't want to see anyone really hurt in the ring, however she was well out of her depth and I imagine boxing the distance with someone like Taylor will do her the world of good from an experience and confidence point of view.

Fair play to her.

I like listening to Macklin (accent aside), but thought he was wrong tonight..........
Me too. It’s not like she was dropping her hands, she was giving plenty of shots back

I wish the Boxing took one thing from the UFC, waiting around 30 mins in between fights is tedious, just get on with it

Kell looked good for two rounds, was effective with his jab and picked his punches well. As soon as Crawford moved to southpaw and closed the distance, he began to land. One punch, a jab as Kell was coming in, and the fight was effectively over. Crawford then landed nine power shots and that was that. Crawford is very gifted indeed.

When he got tagged by bud you could see his eye twitching again . Feel sorry for kell because triple did a real number on his eyes that he hasn’t got over it . As for the fight he looked good and sharp for the first couple but bud was just sizing him up and then goodnight son . No harm getting beat by one of the best though and kell found out what an elite fighter is .

Disagree, i pay my sky sports subscription to watch them come through the ranks, then get told to pay another £20/£25 to watch them when they move up the ranks. Imo just don't show them at all if thats the case.
Get that about coming through the ranks but it has to be 2 class fighter fighting not just usual joshua bullshit . Last one I paid for was canelo triple g

Katie Taylor will have to be knocked out for an opponent to get a decision against her . She is eddies female golden goose who will always get the decisions

Crawford still looking good as ever. He's not doing his legacy any favours keeping clear of the absolute best opposition available, although I've that it's an issue he himself is aware of and unhappy about.

Not you can say that in the slightest...

been enough confirmation that Spence keeps rejecting offers from Top Rank, which is obviously led by Haymon (never likes putting a cash cow on the line until absolutely necessary)...

Best fight for him on paper but won’t get made because of the usual dickhead promotors!

Joyce V Dubois is a real fight and great to see a matchup like it. Dubois is by far the more talented in my view but Joyce is absolutely solid and relentless. I think Dubois will be the winner but I don't think it will be the walkover many are predicting.

The fight in Brook left him after the 2 high profile losses.
When a fighter thinks that looking ripped on the scales after a great training camp at this level will be enough, then theyr'e in trouble. By Kells own admission he clamed up as the fight was warming up and he wasn;t fluid enough.
I respect Kells career and there is absolutely no shame in the losses he as had against 3 greats of the sport.
Just feel he would of always wanted his chance to fight and beat Khan (a fight we all wanted to see) and have retired a happy man after a very good career.

Did you see him blinking when bud first tagged him ? Eddie Hearn should never have allowed that triple g fight because it ended his career .

Mad how that one jab from Bud just obliterated Brook. After the 8 count he was blinking in a bad way as you said, ref could easily have stopped it then if he’d seen it. His punch resistance has completely gone and trying to defend it as the ‘punch you don’t see’ doesn’t really explain how he can be wiped out from so few shots.
