The Boxing thread

I don't think he would've been able to hold on at that stage.

I dont know...need to see the replay. I hope he didnt have the chance, it should be coached though to weather the rough but seemed a tad early at the time

That said beterbiev was totally the harder hitter and caught Yarde multiple occassions

Great fight

Commentary totally right..those that have the difference class know what to do instinctively...when to go forward, when to go backwards and when to read the opponent and flip it on a coin to take the round

It was a great tear up and I'm glad Beterbiev won. Frankly Im sick to death of seeing so many overhyped London based fighters to be honest. Joshua, Whyte, Yarde, Dubois... the list is endless and all of them are nothing more than bodybuilders with little boxing skill and even less endurance.

Still, when most of these fights are being staged in London, it's no surprise that the money grabbing promoters are fast tracking the London based fighters to enhance undercards and venue sales. We saw Karol Itauma lose tonight and he's another prime example of a boxer becoming a professional too soon, having spent almost no time learning his trade. He gave up on the amateur route way too soon, yet is still fundamentally flawed in his southpaw defence. He met an Argentinian journey man this evening with a decent backhand right and was taken to pieces.

There's a reason Beterbiev, Bivol and Usyk are so bloody good and it's because they are properly schooled from long amateur careers.

Not wishing to side track the thread or bring politics into it. Why is a ruSSian allowed to take part in international sport? I thought there was a blanket ban. Not wishing to shit stir, just curious.

would like to see Callum Smith vs Beterbiev. He is mandatory now too. I fancy Smith to win that one.

He's been a Canadian resident for 15 years, got his Citizenship (dual) n now holds a Canadian passport as well as his other one n was granted a Canadian boxing licence.

Lara is a tough twat, managed to pull off a KO with possible broken ribs. Should be a nice rematch on the cards as Woods was cruising till he left his chin in the air

Woods v Conlan 2 should happen before a rematch with Lara it looked a bad KO.

Got to say Gary Cully needs to step up and fight a eliminator fight for a world title if he can't get a World title fight on the Katie Taylor undercard.
