The Boxing thread

Absolute shambles this. Get rid of all the bloody belts and just have the one. Fed up of individuals having one variant of the world championship and claiming to be the best out there but never proving it. Greats of the past must be rolling in their graves or shaking their heads right now. Imagine if the likes of the Leonard, Hagler, Duran and Hearn's era weren't prepared to risk it all and fight one another. They are the 'true fighting men' and not having to harp on about their travelling culture.

Boxing will always be my first love in combat sports but it's dying a death. MMA for me now and I never thought I'd say that. I've just become completely disillusioned by everything boxing. The fights that need to be made rarely ever get done and even if it does it's long past its sell by date i.e Lewis-Tyson and Manny-Mayweather. Too much money, too many networks, too many belts, too many promoters, too many padded records and too much politics involved for it to be run properly. Sad times. :(

Yep UFC superior now you have top fights fortnightly and the best fight the best. And if they don't want to fight the best they are gone.

Also enjoying the Muay Thai that ONE show on YouTube.

Fury just wants to be paid for little effort
He will most likely do a wrestling match with big daddy.or kung foo with Bruce Lee.maybe rocky 6 with stalone totally ruined his legacy more of a circus performance than heavy weight champion of the world.

Steve Bunce explained that it was all agreed as a one off fight.
But then Fury camp wanted a rematch in case he lost. Usyk's camp agreed but wanted more than a 50/50 split for any potential rematch.

I think it's fair to say that so many boxing fans are really pissed off with Tyson Fury.

First it was the farce of a fight that was against Chisora and now he's ducking Usyk. It's making him look like a massive liar and a clown.

He certainly doesn't want this fight! He knows this is the biggest test of his career against an absolute machine that is Usyk the art of boxing.

Fury will most likely sit back and watch Joshua beat Franklin, Then either take on Franklin himself or give Dylian Whyte a shot.

Prick.

The WWE beckons...

UFC has taken over boxing for me now, the best fight the best no fucking about.
Have to agree with you on the best fight the best in the division and that's it no fucking about they make the fight happen and that's it.

Although fights are alot easier to make happen than Boxing even with the likes of the venue. Boxing having bidders from Saudi Arabia, UK, America where as the UFC is really only America and very rare London. Then you've also got television rights, Glove Size ect

I do like the UFC but Boxing will always be my sport, Whether it's Boxing or UFC the one thing I will say is fair fucks to them all getting in the ring/octagon to fight putting their lives on the line! It takes huge bollocks.

Out of interest is there anyone in particular you keep an eye on in the UFC? I've only really started to watch ot properly in the last 12 months.

Well said. Anyone who’s ever climbed thru the ropes at any level knows it’s wrong to call boxers cowards or frauds for not making a fight. Disappointing to see some posters using those terms to describe Fury on here.

I've climbed through the ropes numerous times and it's mentally tough, Especially when I got the head boxed off me it made things worse :)

As for Fury, I don't like what he's doing with Usyk one single bit. Usyk is prepared to fight an undefeated heavyweight in his own country on a 70/30 split and Fury is still looking at ways out of this fight. Well he's got his wish because the fight isn't going to happen not now not this time next year Fury won't let it happen. Fury is far from a coward, He's after getting in he ring three times with the biggest puncher on the planet (Wilder). No doubt he's ducking Usyk and for me personally I think he sees this fight as his biggest threat to his unbeaten record and his belt.

Realistically he should have his belt taken from him.

This is the thing. The WBC seems to pander to him. Having photos with him at every opportunity and I've even seen that Suilaman walking about in a 'Gypsy King' hat a few months ago. It reflects badly on them that their champion seems to be using any old excuse not to unify. It's clear that the common denominator in these fights falling through is Tyson. He seems to think he's bigger than the sport and can just pick and choose his opponents. Everybody now believes the Joshua fights not going ahead was down to him and I tend to agree. Let's not forget he tried to get out of fighting Whyte too in his first mandatory. Simply saying Whyte wasn't 'on his level' etc and as it turned out he was correct but that's not his choice to make it's the WBC's and their ranking system! Yet this guy that wasn't on your level and who would be a pointless opponent has beaten Chisora twice and now you want us to be happy you're fighting Derek in the very next fight?!!! You couldn't make it up! The purse split for the Whyte bout was also supposed to be 55/45 percent using the WBC's own rules but Fury demanded 80/20. Rather greedy considering you keep telling us that money doesn't mean anything to you! Remember this is only the second time he's ever defended a world title by the way and he's making all these demands!!! The very first defence he had he tried to avoid too but was ordered to take the third fight with Wilder by a US court. No other fighter would ever get away with all of this.

Good luck to Codface trying to spin this one.

His words on twitter slagging Usyk off are a joke.

Usyk literally volunteered and fought for his country while Tyson shit's his pants and does coke.

He can get in the bin the big dosser

We’d all like to see the best fight the best in their prime but it doesn’t happen in boxing because of the way boxing’s set up so I blame the system not the boxers.

Fury’s a clever man and he knows that the attributes which make Usyk such a special fighter are probably starting to diminish now and will definitely be reduced in 12 months time. AJ gave him way more problems 2nd time around and it’s debatable how much of that was due to AJ improving or Usyk slipping. So Fury will bide his time, trouser a few million selling out OT this summer fighting Hrgovic or Zhang or Wallin and sign to fight 37 year old Usyk next spring.

Not great for us fans but twas ever thus

Been following Paddy Pimblet but don't think he'll ever make it as a champion. Obviously Conor McGregor but he's a bellend ha. Honestly there's loads of young upcoming fighters who look very good.
