The Boxing thread

I was thinking about this earlier. Football remains popular worldwide. Even locally and globally. It always has an appeal and figures remain consistent.

Every lad at school knew boxers in the 90s and early 2000s. It's now become a complete joke. The bout of McGregor and Mayweather sort of signalled where all this shit is going.

The likes of Fury keep some people talking but all in all nobody can name 5 boxers these days.

The fact we got a 60 year old ex-boxer fighting some random YouTube sensation, for a bigger purse than most pro fights gets, show that this sport is in crisis.

Next week on Netflix: an obese pissed up Ricky Hatton fights Mark Goldbridge live in Piccadilly gardens.

If the circus around Paul v Tyson enabled Paul to pay Serrano and Taylor millions of pounds each, then last night was worth it.
2 girls put on a show and they were rewarded as they should be. I much prefer that than snakes like Hearn profiting.
The headline fight was a debacle really. But, the Serrano v Taylor fight was a classic, again.

If Paul is going to continue, he needs to fight someone like Bellew.

I hope Paul goes on to be a promoter, rather than carry on with the boxing. He can do a lot of good for the sport.

Katie Taylor should retire she has no more to prove. But she bet her purse on Tyson winning the silly goose. Her biggest pay day gone. I think if she fights Serrano again the money be there but who wants to see that again lol. It will be her last fight. Her carrer she will go into the boxing hall of fame as the greatest female boxer of all time.
