The Boxing thread

For me it was pretty even up to the halfway point but then Chris’s boxing ability helped him to pull away and win the fight.
It was close but I thought Chris won by 2 or 3 rounds.
I said all the way through fight Benn was throwing but missed an absolute ton. I had Chris 2 up, Chris ended all the rounds throwing everything as well he kept looking at the clock haha

I don't think it's in Benns best interests to bother with a rematch. Stick to his own weight division where his speed and power would be much more effective. He comes out of this fight with his reputation intact, enhanced even and at 28 he has time to win a world title. Eubank at 35 is in the twilight of his career he's a notch below the very best , certainly not the fighter snr was. He's bagged a nice payout tonight but won't ever be world champion. Cracking contest though.

Great fight. I actually thought the scorecard was fair, albeit still deserving of a rematch.

Wouldn’t take it if I was Benn though.

Didn't think Benn would get to the final bell after all the air shots he loaded up with.
Respect his engine after 14 months out.
Thought it was a much closer fight than the scorecards.
Benn gained alot tonight even in defeat

I wouldn’t take it if I was Eubank either.
He’s won and 12 to 18 months on, time waits for no man.
Benn should improve whereas Chris is on the downward trajectory.
Money talks though..

Eubank did the much better work, outlanded him too..

Benn looks OK to the untrained eye because he's exposive but it was mostly wild and off balance swinging.

Eubank would've stopped him if he wasn't so depleted from the weight cut and rehydration clause. Took all the snap out of his punches. That's precisely why they add those rehydration clause.

Now he won, he should call the shots in the rematch and get the rehydration clause scrapped and he'd win more comfortably. He should do it this year though before he's just too old regardless.

Benn has heart and can have a scrap but technically very poor. His head comes over his feet after he punches. A top fighter would read that and clean him out.

Yeah true, I don’t think Eubank used his size advantage as well as he could have done though and still won tonight due to better boxing.

Benn at his normal weight is going to be interesting to watch.

Benn will get wrecked at 147 by the likes of Boots Ennis

He probably shouldn't go back down to 147. Going up two weight classes and back down never works out well, look at Brook, Roy Jones, Donaire. All far better fighters than Benn and that weight gain and loss done them in.

But then if Benn moves to 154, there's Virgil Ortiz, Madrimov, Boots may move up, Bohachuk. They would all wipe the floor with Benn.

He's better off just seeing how things pan out and try to pick up some vacant title or something but he's never winning a world title if he has to fight those kind of fighters.

If he does go back to 147 and Boots Ennis moved to 154, then at least Benn would be entering probably the weakest Welterweight division in history. The best lot after Boots moves up are like likes of Norman and Sasaki. Good fighters but not the calibre you usually get at 147.
