The Boxing thread

Yeah true, I don’t think Eubank used his size advantage as well as he could have done though and still won tonight due to better boxing.

Benn at his normal weight is going to be interesting to watch.
The weight cut and rehydration clause played a huge part.
Eubanks heart impressed my tonight.
He bit down on his gum shield and kept on going right to the final bell.
I’m not sure Benn has it in him to reach the top.
He’s too wild, too angry and lacks the composure at the right time.
I’ll be watching if he does fight at his weight class just to see if the wildness is still there.
Maybe it’s just because of the hatred and family rivalry.
He’s got a great chin and does have the skills but he needs someone to teach him to box rather than fight.
If he could get somewhere in between you never know.

For all Benn's movement he wanted to avoid any exchange as Eubank won them, but lacked any real power.

No need for a rematch, not great fight.

Eubank outlanded Benn every round

And 150 more punches landed

Easy Eubank win

I thought the correct decision was mad regarding the winner, Eubank edged the fight although it wasn't four rounds in my opinion.

It was a good scrap towards the end with both fighters giving everything especially in the later rounds.

Having said that overall it was a really poor quality fight, Both are bang average with very little boxing IQ between them. They mentioned that the winner could face Canelo...That would be hilarious, Canelo would spark the pair of them out on the same night.

The way I look at it Eubank won and is nowhere near the peak he was. Same with Liam Smith on the undercard a great win for McKenna he was non stop and took the fight away from him.
For Eubank and the prizefighter he is I think he needs a world title fight as I don't think he has many fights left in him. No point in rematching Benn.
As for Benn and I will always say this about fighters that are drug cheats they deserve everything they get. I love my boxing but I'm sick of seeing drug cheats that have gone on to win World titles there is loads the bans they get are a joke. That includes Tyson Fury , Canelo , Erik Morales , Roy Jones Jnr and even Ryan Garcia recently it's a joke of what is a dangerous sport where fighters have lost there lives. A major ban of 5 years or life ban and more testing needs doing.

He would have had to eat thousands of eggs to get that much in his system and didn’t he take his partners hormone tablets by mistake?why would a young man’s partner be taking hormone supplements. They really do take us for idiots

Exactly. Don't like Eubank Jr and usually want his opponents to win. Not on this occasion when he was clearly fighting a drugs cheat.

Neither fighter are top level but the fight itself, as I suspected, was quite evenly matched. Eubank Jr with the weight advantage, but Benn having the benefit of being 7 years younger.

That was a big last round for Eubank. I thought it was a bit closer than 116-112 but Eubank landed more shots. I don’t think they should fight again. The weight difference is too much and too dangerous to be pissing around with.

Fair play to Benn though. Gave it a go.

The worst thing from last night's fight was that it was a good fight, because it was close and went to points it gives them the rematch clause to fight again, Benn should never fight at 160 again and should go back to 147 and win the belts and become a world champion.

Not many thought it would be a great fight, me included, but it was an old-style toe-to-toe fight and both fighters gave it their all, I don't want a rematch and it's done for me, Both fighters at the end respected each other's skill and the score card,

I don’t think either are world class but it was an entertaining fight, which is what it’s all about. Fair play to them both.

Benn does something with his head that I don’t like, he seems to go over on his big punches and somebody will eventually take it off.
