The Boxing thread

Agree, Usyk normally bides his time in 'figuring' out his opponent & outboxing them over the duration of the fight. Although you could argue, he's already spent time doing this in the first fight & calculated Dubois's strengths & fighting style.

I also reckon perhaps his camp were thinking about stamina & wanted Usyk to wrap this up quickly, rather than giving the younger man a chance the longer the fight went on.

In saying all of this, Usyk was picking off Dubois at will & it was impressive to see. In a way, it was probably best the fight ended in the fifth, as the longer it went on, the worse it was getting for Dubois.
Possible, he either knew from the last time that he had to go after him or he decided after round one to jump on him

Dubois, I think was made to look worse then he is. I don't think he got to grips with fighting a South paw. The head movement never compensated or focused on that. Hence he looked like a sitting duck.

I agree with you the corner/ref did right to stop it. He had been knocked down earlier, the second knockdown was worse and he looked fucked. If he had got another round it serious have been him shipping worse shots.

See the gypsy twat is embarassing himself again, saying hes the only man that can stop usyk as he won the 1st 2 fights and everybody knows it, if only he was as good at boxing as he is talking bullshit.
He is the Pricks Prick.

He had 24 rounds an 6 judges said you lost. Bizarrely the first fight where he nearly got knocked out was his best effort.

The last fight he was so tentative and looked like he just wanted to survive.

Fuck off an let Parker fight Usyk, he can try best AJ or DD.

Uysk will fight anyone anywhere. He is one of the best heavyweights in any era a legitimate top 10 fighter of all time. He is just that good. I hope he fight Parker next as he deserves that fight. Got to hope that Parker has it still. Him and Andy Lee have been great together too.
Finally Manny Paqauiao back in the ring just wish these fighters once retired stays retired. We could potentially see Pacman v Hatton lol just retire.

its why he will never win a 3rd fight even if he gets it because if he believes he won the first 2 he wont change anything and he will just lose again, if i was usyk id say okay ill make a 'trilogy' fight even tho you cant call it a trilogy because he lost the first two but if you want that fight its 90 - 10 purse my way because effectively you bring nothing to the table, you have no belts i want, i have convincingly beaten you twice, your only asset is a big mouth.

Usyk is/was brilliant and Saturday was worth watching for all of the right reasons. I haven't got the boxing ability to criticise boxers or the bravery they have getting their faces mashed in for the art and for cash but I never warmed to Fury at all like I have with Usyk.

As for our own heavyweights only one (Frank) and more recently Joe Joyce have I warmed up to, maybe because they are/were such nice guys too.

I went to the fight and I’ve got even more respect for Usyk now. One of the best the most accurate and clinical displays of boxing I’ve ever seen. Usyk will be tempered as one of the all time greats.

I think Tyson Fury would have given Usyk a decent fight five years ago but there is nobody who lives with Usyk in the ring in the current era

He is phenomenal. A truly wonderful fighter.
Greatest ever heavyweight? That's a bold claim: Ali, Mike Tyson, Lennox, Joe Louis, Larry Holmes, Marciano, Jack Johnson, Sam Langford...the list of greats is plentiful. Would he beat a peak Tyson, Ali, Holmes, or Lewis?
Gene Tunney deserves a shout.

Really really like Parker and Usyk. Will be a hard watch for me, won't want either to lose.

Wish Fury would just retire.

5 years ago Usyk would of still beaten Tyson. He is tactically one of the best I have seen in the last 30 years. There's only a handful I would put up there with him Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe all could box really well and fight any fight. Once Usyk knows and works the fighter out he's just amazing footwork and for a heavyweight quick hands. It's rare he gets caught with anything heavy too.

Come on Itauma. This lad looks the bollocks to me. Could do with a k o in the first round so I can get MOTD on.

No doubt I’ve just given him the kiss of death bigging him up

Itauma hasn't proved himself against anybody yet.

Dillian Whyte has beaten the likes of Povetkin, Chisora and Parker and put it up to Joshua.

I know he's 37 now but he's definitely capable of winning this fight, All it takes is one shot in this heavyweight division and it's good night.

Itauma toughest test of his career so far tonight.
