Karl Place doesn’t fear any light-welterweight in Britain – and why should he?

Dan Rafael has said on his twitter that Brandon Rios hasn't eaten for the past 5 days apparently. He's clearly killed himself to make the weight, Murray could actually do him.

Thats highly unlikely that he hasnt eaten for 5 days. Rafael talks a lot of shit. Shocked Rios hasnt pulled out of the fight when he is struggling to make the weight.

I done Murray to win by KO or TKO tonight.

His manager, Cameron Dunkin, told ESPN that all Rios had consumed over the previous five days was a small drink of water on Wednesday.

Have you seen the weigh-in? He looked like a ghost!

I havent seen the weigh - in but if true its unprofessional by Rios not to be near the weight on the weigh in day. Never mind how the Rios promotor must feel about this shit. Any other promotor would of wanted there man to pull out of the fight if he is so much out of the weight. Maybe his management team are hoping this will the kick up the arse he needs to be more professional at all times.

I like John and he's a big blue and all but he wouldn't win if Rios hadn't eaten for 5 weeks

I agree, I think he's getting knocked out early. But if it gets to the later rounds you never know, Rios won't have a lot left with the way he's been draining himself.

Murray stopped in 11, nvm.

Margarito v Cotto on now.

-- Sun Dec 04, 2011 6:49 am --

Great fight, Cotto stops Margarito after 9, doctors stop it due to Margarito's right eye being well and truly fucked.

Cotto was superb, cruising and hitting classy combo's as Margarito plundered forward all the time throwing wild punches with no defence.

Both guys left it all in the ring but Cotto crushed him, totally outclassed him, I had it 89-82 Cotto when it was stopped, only gave Margarito 1 round and that was very marginal.

Cotto probably wouldn't beat Mayweather or Pacq but I think the way he throws punches he'd be a good test for Khan if they agreed on a weight, if Cotto can be contemplating Mayweather as is Khan then they can fight each other.

Glad to see Cotto beating that cheating fker Margarito, well deserved, thought he fought very well and loved the celebration too.

Cotto against Pacman the first fight was so much in Pacmans favour with the catch weight working in Pacmans favour. If there was no catch weight Cotto would have a great chance against Pacman. Cotto looked good last night must set up a fight with Saul Alvarez to find out who is the best at Light middleweight would be a good fight. IF that cant be made then maybe try and see if Money will move up to Light Middleweight for a fight with Cotto I would say Cotto would want to revenge his defeat to Pacman so that could be another option.

As for John Murray he has great heart no defence he reminds me of John Duddy great heart no defence. America loved Duddy and he retired early because he knew as he stepped up the ladder if he couldnt KO the fighters he was fighting he was taking way too much during those fights. Since his move to Warren he has been beaten twice if he gets beaten again Warren will show him the door. Sadly for Murray his next fight is a must win if he gets beaten again he will have to have a long think about continuing boxing.

Bob Arum apparently wants to make Cotto vs Chavez Jr, who is suddenly being highly touted because of a big win against the world beater that is Peter Manfredo. Also he's been linked with Maravilla and of course his name is now in the frame for May 5th if Mayweather doesn't get the fight with Pacquiao signed and sealed.

Good performance by Cotto, classy combinations and good movement around the ring, but he is faded for sure. Any time he gets into an exchange there is always tension with him now. He marks up very easily these days and I as a big fan of the guy am never comfortable watching when he hangs around in the pocket long enough to engage in a proper exchange. Any time Margarito had even a aplit second to plant his feet and swing to the body or try uppercuts I felt tense. I guess that's the thrill of watching someone like Cotto but to send him in with Pacquiao would be a mistake because I think Pacquiao (even after the Marquez fight) would inflict another beating on Cotto.

Arum wont put Chavez jnr in the same ring as a Cotto. Chavez jnr was offered a fight with Marthinez and turned it down. Chavez jnr is living off his dads fame. Once he goes into a fight with a real contender Chavez jnr will be found out.

Arum is a smart business man and he will sort out a fight for Chavez just look at the British and Irish fighters who boxed in a World title fight in the past 6 months in Barker , Murray and Macklin all 3 would have too much for Chavez jnr. Rumours over here it could be Andy Lee v Chavez jnr. Lee has decent power and good boxing skills when he uses it but sadly for Lee his defence isnt the greatest takes some shots when he doesnt need to.

I can see Chavez jnr either fighting Andy Lee or Peter Quillin who is an American middleweight who might be pushed by the networks in the US next year into getting a World title shot. 26 wins out of 26 with 20 KOs Kid Choclate will be fighting a big fight in 2012.

No way Arum lets Chavez Jr fight anone who fights back. Havent been away from the bixing biz for years but Chavez Jr cant fight. Well, he can fight a little but not much more than that.....

Frank March 17 Paddys day a huge card is going down in the Garden in New York. The headline will be Mat Macklin v Sergio Marthinez. Expect a couple of Irish fighters on the undercard in Andy Lee and maybe even a young exciting Super Bantamweight in Carl Frampton also Paul McCloskey could be on the card. A big card with a lot of Irish fighters on it for the Irish people of New York. Should be a great night.
