The Boxing thread

Have only looked through the last page so not sure if it's been touched upon (I imagine it has) already, but a good night on 5th May I think.

Mayweather-Cotto and I think Mosley-Canelo on the undercard that night. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the Mosley fight.

Mosley should retire in my view think Canelo will stop him or the corner will pull Shane out. Some fighters fight way too long and I think this is the case with Shane.

As for Money and Cotto it will be ok but Money will win on points. Unlike the Cotto v Pacman fight Cotto will not have to make a catch weight which fucked his chances up against Pacman but sadly for Cotto Money will be just to classy. Its a fucking disgrace that Boxnation has this fight instead of Sky.

As for next week Skys bill from Belfast with the Irish Prizefighter should be a good 1 and McCloskey v DeMarcus Corley should be a decent night of boxing. In the prizefighter Eamonn O Kane only has had 4 fights as a pro but his Am record was great won a Commonwealth Gold medal and I think the prizefighter is more suited to him than the rest involved so I will be putting money on him to win it outright when the odds go up.

As for Bellew a decent fighter but a **** of bloke thinks he is a hard man. I slagged him off for his lucky win against McKenzie in there first fight and he asked me to come down to the gym to fight him. He was giving it the big man treatment. Latter on he got back in touch with me to say sorry but my mind hasnt changed on him. Good win last night for him.

Good Solid win from the scouser Bellew last night, retaining his British - Light Heavyweight title! Seems to have really stepped it up a notch in his last few fights!

I thought he came across quite well after the fight, all boxers give it the big one nowadays to hype themselves. Half of it is instructions from promoters. I suppose it's different when you've had a personal run in. How do you know him Leighton ?

I go onto Eastside boxing fourm from time to time to catch up with some of the Irish people on there good way at getting tickets to fights. I commented on his fight with Ovil McKenzie i called it a Frank Warren get out of jail decision and he took offence by it. And started the big i am. I contacted him after the second fight to say well done and he seems ok. But to offer you a fight is a cuntish thing to do and say that you wouldnt last long in a ring with him. I know that already. So i got over it maybe its a bad day he seems to ok since.

I haven't actually seen that much of Canelo just know he is Mexico's rising star and there is a fair bit of hype about him. I didn't even realise it was on Boxnation may have to stay up with a few beers and get it online some way.

Agree with you regarding the Cotto-Mayweather fight. I watched this recently - you may enjoy watching it. There's some good HBO stuff on Youtube.

Anybody follow that Saul Alvarez ? the guy is a machine

As for the Ginger Mexican he is a classy fighter Mexican fighters are always my favourites so much heart and they love a war. IF Saul stays unbeaten he may well be Moneys next fight after the Cotto fight it opens up another option for Money. 1 of the most exciting fighters out there at the moment I can see him moving up the weights and being a multi weight World Champion.

On the undercard of Khans fight is Adrian Broner v Gary Sykes. Broner looks like a cocky shit ala Naz and can bang like Naz. Sykes will do well to see the final bell in that fight. Just hope that Broner gets in with Gamboa at the moment it might not be a good thing for Broner but early next year its a must for me 2 unbeaten fighters it has to happen.

Did anyone watch the Sam Webb v Matt Hall fight last night?

Seemed some very bizarre scoring going on. One judge had Webb winning by 4 rounds and another had Hall by 5 (i.e a 9 point swing between two judges). The third judge scored it pretty much even.

I didn't see it, can anyone fill me in - which judge was right?

A good night of boxing this weekend. The last of the Hatton cards on Sky is on with Rhodes and the Quigg v Munroe fight. Then latter tonight on Boxnation they are showing the world title fight of Andy Lee v Chavez Jnr from El Passo ring walk I am hearing for that fight is 3 am our time but I wont hold my breath more like pushing 4 than 3 in my view.

My bets Lee and Munroe in a double.

Looking forward to the quigg fight.
Think scott will win it, he's looking very good physically.

Local lad aswell, from just round the corner from me :)

Just having a cuppa after getting back from the Velodrome. What a disappointing and premature end, a technical draw/no contest in the third, after a clash of heads. Was shaping up into a good contest as well.
Major trouble up in the cheap seats after the fight was stopped, saw one lad who seemed to be unconscious getting booted down the stairs. Nasty stuff, didn't seem to be much security up there, bouncers from the floor level eventually had to vault the fences onto the cycling track and make their way up to the brawling.
As I predicted, Rabchenko stopped Rhodes. I thought Sergei the meercat was always hitting the harder, though Rhodes nailed him flush in the third and rocked him. But the fact the Belarus man took his best shot clean and came back firing told me there was only going to be one winner.
Surprised to see Rhodes moaning about the stoppage. He went down to a solar plex/heart shot and was clearly in distress even when he staggered up at nine. He also claimed he was five rounds ahead. All the neutrals around us had it even or Rabchenko ahead.
Most entertaining fight was the ding-dong heavyweight bout between Richard Towers and the Frenchman Gerard Tony. If you get the chance to see this one again on Sky or YouTube then watch it. A proper seesaw job, knockdowns, standing counts, and several moments when both men looked within one decent shot of being KO'd.

What a strange night at the boxing ruined by the cut and all the warriors fighting in the crowd.

Thought Quigg was looking very good and I reckon Munroe is starting to slide but the cut put paid to that.

Shame for Ryan Rhodes thought he looked a class above all night but I had a rubbish view for the K/o punch.
Was that you and the Wheelchair Soprano Crew slapping the youngsters into shape upstairs?
Only caught the latter part of Martin Murray's bout mate, looked like he won handily enough against a game lad.

Yeah mate we were up in the cheap seats and it was bedlam, nasty way to end the night mate.
Some serious warriors up there funnily enough nobody wanted any trouble with the Wheelchair Soprano Crew. The security was awful some fat bloke(bigger than me) runs up the cycle track jumps into the seats and flattens someone yet the security were knowhere to be seen.

Martin Murray comfortable enough mate looked understandably rusty but you were right the French bloke was game to say the least.

The Towers fight looked like a battle between two fighters who will have very short careers!
What was that ref on? That fight could have been stopped on numerous occasions I dread to think what Price and Fury would do to Towers.

Shame about the cuts mate as Quigg looked good from where I was.
