The Boxing thread

I hope this doesn't see him going back to drugs and booze there is plenty he can do after Boxing.

I didn't like watching that at all. I was worried Hatton was going to get properly hurt there. Not a good way to end his career, but I sincerely hope he never fights again. I hope he doesn't go downhill in his personal life after that defeat. He is better than that, he was a great fighter in his prime & doesn't need to prove anything else.

He's already said that he intended to retire if he lost this. Hopefully he just stays on the straight and narrow.

he needs to speak to a lot of fans and let them tel him theres nothing to be sad about, that was a worrying interview

I don't mean to be rude but he does not look like a professional athlete to me. He looks fucked, I fear the worst.

This will have been about a month ago I reckon. The weigh in video has him in much better shape (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=N3UVeG9b51E" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 3UVeG9b51E</a>) however he looks very thin around the ribs. The fella is tall so Hatton's best way of a win is to go 12(not good in his first fight back) or get him with a body punch(if the fella is half decent this shouldn't happen).

What did he say. My stream froze just before.

He was full of apologies to everyone, very upset.

Well done Ricky, you've given us all plenty of memories, keep clean & stay safe lad, enjoy your family life.

I'm absolutely gutted for Ricky.
His post fight interview was as down as I've ever seen him.
I'm not too sure what the future holds but I will be behind him every step of the way.
Love you Ricky and you re still a legend!

It's very easy as a fat, bald halfwit to sit here and pass judgement. Ricky showed a huge pair of cojones to attempt a comeback, but clearly it is beyond him. Looking at him today we saw not a man trying to resurrect a career or prove a point, we saw a mere shadow of a boxing legend in the throes of desperation.

Undone by a short, sharp body shot, Shenchenko can surely take nothing away from this fight. He got caught a couple of times by Hatton, nothing earth shattering but you felt they were shots he could have / should have slipped. So we can safely say, Shenchenko is not going to trouble the upper echelons of the division. In fact, I imagine Kell Brook may have looked on and thought about an easy fight, sold as "...doing it for Ricky and Britain..." and all that bollocks.

As for Hatton, he needs good people around him right now to help his transition to a new career. God forbid someone encourages him to get back in the ring as against anyone of any quality, Ricky will get badly hurt.

he tried to get up about 7 of the count when he heard crowd willing him up but just couldnt do it, hard to watch
